Good question zer0.

I've been looking that up also and you could prolly find some info on the CAMS website but they just seem to refer you to your car club (which I'll be joining this as soon as I get my skyline).

There is an application form and all the levels they have and what they allow you to do. I think drift is considered a sub-derivative of motorkhana (whatever that is) but don't quote me on that.

The link specifically I think may be the most help to you is-

http://www.cams.com.au/content.asp?PageID=Competitors

Let me know what else you dig up! I'm keen to know myself.

Quick answer to your question.

Skidpan - no CAMS license required. You wanna do it go see Kev and Scotty at Driver Dynamics - http://www.driverdynamics.com/

Track days - you can go to the open days at Calder (Wed) and Winton (Fridays) without a CAMS license. A whole bunch of us went up to Winton just last Friday infact.

If you want to participate in any Sprints etc then you'll need to join a CAMS based club and then get your CAMS license.

cheers

CAMS Licence requirements vary from event to event.

If you attend a CAMS Sanctioned speed event (supersprint, hillclimb etc...) then you will require a CAMS Licence. If any event requires a CAMS Licence then the supplementary regulations for that event will specifically state what level of CAMS Licence you need.

For most open practice trackdays, skidpan days and drift days you wont need one...

You need one when the event you go to is a competitive event.

Again the regulations will state if you need one or not and what level you need. Just make sure you read them and if it doesn't mention it then you don't need one.

As for drag racing you don't need a CAMS Licence to go drag racing even if it is a competitive event like the nationals or drag combat etc.... You will however need an ANDRA Licence based on their requirements... CAMS have nothing to do with Drag Racing AFAIK, it's all handled by ANDRA
