Hi guys have any one done a setup using NOS to spool a big turbo.

I was reading on google that this is possible but cant seem to get my head around how the system would work. From what i gather you would need a fuel/NOS injector. But would it be before or after the TB.??

I also read that you would need a pressure switch to turn it on and off like a pressure switch.

From what i gather it basically get rid of lag and can leave with full boost.

Im look for a diagram of the lay out. Does anyone have any links to how it would be done. ?????

Pretty sure it depends what NOS kit you have etc

Everyone I know running it on rb25's has it controlled by the ecu (mainly Vipec) to switch on at 2500 switch off at 4500 ish rpm when Vct kicks in yo for the exact reason you state to take away a bit of lag

No diagrams or anything from me though sorry

I was reading around. Please look at the attached photo. But after reading it and looking a zex kit thats ment to do the same thing. The info i believe said on number 7 to place the fuel/NOS injector after the TB. I thought it would be before. Im drag racing a gtr. Rb26. With a gt42r. Would like to leave with 30psi. At around 9k. Its getting a bit clear in my head and may just buy this zex kit but the pressure switch look weak.

Looking to spool the turbo with trying to cause a fire. But i have heard of many ways that system works. Some guys bypass fresh air and duct it in the runners of the turbo manifold. But lots of guys in the states are doing this NOS METHOD to get boost off the line. From what i hear it works good. Nothing like the old bang bang methods. I just thought i would read up on it before i experience it first hand. I lile to understand how things work in my head before trying them. Check out this link of a supra using it.

Have a look here, it's a RIPS install from NZ...single fogger just before the plenum:

This kind of depends on other aspects of the setup. Forgive me but is the car a GTR like your avatar picture? and will it be a manual trans?

Nos will help you get the turbo going when you're on the transbrake but if you're driving a manual 4WD then just set up launch control on your ecu with a clutch switch and full throttle launch it. Or am I missing something

Sadly i have a manual. But ive heard of guys having manual shift and still using nos to spool the turbo off the line. Using a boost switch to control the injection of nos. No thatd not the car im using in my profile photo. Its a r32 gtr

works killer best mod ever for big laggy turbos. even a 50hp shot can bring a big turbo on so much earlier.

Full throttle switch, arm switch and rpm switch are necessities, a decent ecu should have it there ready to go.

    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
    • My heads are cathedral port! It's likely possible, but I don't want to add any extra moving parts (I know they don't move) between the heads, manifolds, etc. It will also affect how injectors/fuel rails etc sit and I don't really know if it would change how the FAST manifold goes/sits/fits. I have the LS6 steam pipes already as I have a very late LS1 block so it should be fine. I couldn't find anyone who had ever actually used one for this purpose, it seems 100% of people grind the water pump. The thermal spacers are 12mm and are half way to the cost of the newer water pump anyhow... so if it comes to that I suppose I'd rather buy a new pump. The bearing in the pump I do have is a little.. clunky, but it hasn't done that much time and I never noticed it when the car was together in the past few years, so..
    • The bushing has failed, not all that uncommon for a car of this age.  Any mechanic should be able to push in a new bushing for you, or you can probably buy the entire lower control arm, complete with bushes.
    • Could you not use "thermal" spacers to give the clearance, like the ones I used between the blower and head? That raised the manifold height by around 10-15mm Albeit the ones I used were for cathedral ports, but I assume they have similar for rectangular ports????
    • Thanks Paul I reached out to Autotainment but they no longer work on JDM cars as the guy who used to do the work moved on and is no longer doing that kind of work. I am talking with Level Up Audio though.
