Not quite.

I'm investigating this because I added swaybars and found the car has handled worse afterwards, despite having a "recipe" that seems to work for others.

My car is not dumped but it's lower than factory and after doing some reading I found that I having LCAs below parallel (and stock castor up front) may be a big part of the unbalance in the setup.

At the last track day, it burned up the outside edge of the tyres more than it ever has in a single event. The car might now be too stiff with 8/6kg springs front and rear and 27m front adjustable (max soft) and 25mm (hollow) rear swaybar.

Or it may be that the tyres are just now at the limit (they are only 235 RS-Rs) but the wear on the outside edge implies the tyres are rolling over (despite having -3 front and -1.5rear camber).

So castor and Roll centres were suggested so I'm working on that.

bcozican: How much stuff around was it to weld in the plates to create the new mount points? As I didn't think the factory mounts had anywhere that much material to work with.

not that hard really - admittedly we had a tempate to work off as other cars I know had it done first

but make a template out of card then after a rough cut out a few cuts and shaves to get it to fit properly initally but once you make one side of one side up then just use it as a template and you can bang out the other 3 pretty quickly and weld tops and bottoms together for support.

yes cutting, grinding and drilling but can be done at home if your half handy... i cant weld but mate did that bit for me

I like you are not up with the full massive techincals but my suspension / wheel aligner guy over here knows what he is on about and pointed me in this direction

ha man i did mine over 2 years ago the template we make wouldve been ditched straight away. my car in for panel and paint atm but remind me and i see what i can do about trying to make something up when it comes out in week or two

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
