Hey guys doing some maintenance over the weekend since i picked up my first skyline and couldnt help noticed how loud the fan was, it seems it roars too loud, loud enough not to hear the engine... its worse when standing outside, u cant even hear the engine or exhaust, embarrassing lol

I was told that its possible the viscous fan is stuffed, so i ask on your opinion here :)

Now im aware they are suppose to be loud but only on start up when the viscous fan fluids are cold, but mine seems to be stuck on all the time, which makes me wonder is the viscous fan stuffed?

I have some understanding of viscous fans, but ive always had electric fans on my other vehicles, so this mechanical fan is some what new to me haha

cheers

With the engine not running you should be able to spin the fan easily by hand, if not she's goosed.

Having said that, the clutch fan on my R31 was a little stiff and noisey but a spray in there with Silicon spray or WD40 (can't recall which I used) actually freed it up alot and quietened it down too.

Worth a shot and can't make it any worse.
