Thoughts? I am not sure if I like the socket head.. also needs washers...

I think with some nice stainless washers it would look pretty good.

Or you could buy one of those "dress up kits" that have titanium style... but I prefer stainless myself.

Some fresh bling would look great i think. I agree with including some washers to hide that scummy ring though.

I'm pretty sure the lip is a separate piece they add to the standard bar. Never actually seen one removed though ?

I bought one of these for my R32:

Chose the "gloss red" washers to match other custom elements of the engine bay. I think it looks pretty sharp without being too bling.

Currently I am making a list of all the required bolts....good thing I bought a thread gauge instead of assuming threads of bolts.

I think I will just go stainless steel bolts and washer. I dont mind that button head design, its just a matter of which bolts I change and which I leave....I am leaning towards just buying a bulk order of bolts and changing them out as I go around the engine bay and pull/replace parts..

Completed a coolant flush over a couple of days while I waited for parts to come in.

There are currently 2 majorish projects going on with the car, more to come very soon...hopefully....

Updates to the car:

1) Installed a cheap chinese Android Headunit

The system works..ok for the cost. I am still trying to set it up and giving different apps a go, I will check in again once I have it setup well...

This was easy to install. I bought a Nissan to ISO adapter from SuperCheap Auto, cut the ISO plugs off and wired in the headunit plug and voila, it works!

2) Installed big brakes ?

This was a project of mine which I wanted to do since I bought the car...my R33 now has R34-GTR Brembo Calipers, PMU Pads and Disks and GKTech Stainless Steel Braided lines, running Castrol Response DOT4 fluid.

These were fairly more intrusive, but some tips if someone else is trying it out:

- Go to a proper fastners shop and gets bolts from there that fit, forget the old stuff that came with the calipers
- Get a nice expensive drillbit and some cutting fluid to drill your hubs
- Get an angle grinder or a reciprocating saw, this works just as well
- Make your own bleeder with some hose and a clear bottle, rather than the 1-man bleeders you can buy at auto-parts stores

Apologies for the average pictures, car needs a clean and a photoshoot with the new brakes....

Question for fellow Skyliners - What are good intake setups that people use? I am looking for a good looking, well built setup which looks almost OEM. I have no intrest in having pods hanging around in the engine bay.  Is just the HKS performance filter a good enough upgrade?

There's some good looking pod shields out now and easy enough to paint/wrap whatever to make it look good. But from memory, your not running big power so the stock box should be up to the task with a god quality panel filter. Depends how much whistle you want ;)

OEM with filter.

Standard airbox with high performance panel filter all the way.

If you're on a stock sized turbo, trying to get a 4" inlet to line up with the stock airbox isn't fun (ask me how I know) haha

Post pics, then, with a small amount of plagiarism, the task isn't as hard.

That looks neat.

How did it flow?

No idea, decided I didn't like it so changed to a 4" intake before I tuned the car. Ended up with 323kW... then got bored, moved the gate from the housing to the exhaust manifold, made 372kW, then about 5 track days later it went bang lol.

Some small but highly effective work done on the car today, got some small door dings fixed!

You can see the before and after. If anyone is looking for a paint-less dent repairer, Dentech Paintless Dent Repairer in South Australia is highly recommended!

    • January or Feb is it booked in for turbo fitment?
    • The MX5 has had some annoying rattles in both front doors over bumps So I installed fancy pants door bushings, which stopped all of the rattles with the windows up, but........with the windows down there was still rattles, so after some googling,  and a chat with MX5 Mania, I got some new door to glass weather seals, all the rattles, windows up, or down, are gone now Shout out to MX5 Mania, the weather seals were on sale, and when I head to Dural to pick the up they even fitted them for me for free I did see a "really" nice Blue NA sitting out front   and this Black NC PRHT that looked like it has sat in the sun for its whole life and never had a wash, the clear coat was non-existent, an it looked horrible, really horrible, but, it had a nice turbo kit with over 200kw, the thing went like a cut snake, bagging the rears through the gears and dosing like a champ 😍 But, as I've always stated, I am keeping my NC na, I'm happy with the current power the car makes In other news: MX5 Mania do a drive in drive out turbo kit, the only minor additional part recommended for boosting my car, as it sits now, is a oil cooler, and that bonnet vents are definitely required for track use Aftermarket version look a bit to "racecar" spec I wonder how Focus RS bonnet vents would look?????
    • Paint is only structural when applied to the outside of Chinese and Indian cars. Otherwise it should never be present between mechanical joints that were intended to be metal to metal. Pain slips, slides, cracks, compresses, and add thickness that wasn't intended to be there. It comes firmly under the category of "just no".
    • appreciated it thanks   There are threads on the adaptor. I rear re anodising but didn’t know it will reduce strength   re mating services needing to be flat/ not painted, why would that be? I am devastated as car been off for a year, fixed power steering then installed bm57 master cylinder and just before driving it this came up.
