Hi Guys, my name is Lachlan, Im 20 years old from Sydney, and Im writing a build thread for my car to keep you busy during work, as well as help me keep track of my progress with the car. Before I get started, I'll provide a bit of my car history.

My first car was a 92 Honda Prelude, which started life granny spec with hub caps and all. By the end of its life it was looking like this

I loved that car, it was efficent, handled well and was perfect for my P's, but unfortunately it got T-boned at an intersection one night. The next day I went and bought my Skyline. I also had a SR400 Cafe Racer for a while which got me around as I couldn't drive my new turbo car for 4 months since I bought it!

I found the Skyline on Gumtree and from the second I saw it I needed to own it. I got it for a good price and it came with a roadworthy certificate. It is a 1993 GTST Type M with 130,000km's on the clock. The bloke said it was a personal import and that he bought it for his daughter before realizing she couldn't drive it on her P's. It came with a full GTR body kit including alloy bonnet, side skirts, wing and rear pods. It also came with a lightened flywheel and solid mount gear box bushings, HKS super sound blow off valve, turbo timer, 3' turbo back exhaust, (Splitfires - we'll get to that later) and brand new Pirelli P-zero's. Apart from that it was basically stock. I got it for a great price and bought it home.

I got a permit to drive it unregistered and drove it over an hour home with no number plates legally. After getting it home it was obvious the car had been sitting for a long time at some point in its life and it was covered in some kind of over spray. I got my mate who is a detailer to have a crack at the paint and it came up beautifully, and then painted the wheels with VHT wheel paint and calipers with VHT metallic. I'd like to change wheels in the future but these are okay and the Pirelli's are pretty awesome. Also threw on some weathersheilds I got from Just Jap and some neo-chrome steel wheel nuts

So far I've driven the car for about 6 months and had my fair share of Skyline fun times. The first thing that went was the fuel injectors which had three leaking out the sides and needed replacement. I bought a complete second hand set and had them cleaned and flow tested before installation. I also had to change the clutch master cylinder as it decided to drop its guts on my carpet. I've stripped the boot interior and installed a decent sound system, and put in front and rear strut braces in which I cleaned up using left over caliper paint

I've so far upgraded to a Excedy HD clutch as the one in it started to slip due to the big seal going, and bought new Splitfire coil packs as the splitfires that were in it were actually red jackets which were rooted and causing misfires. I've also installed a HID kit, set the ignition timing and changed the 02 sensor which made a world of difference for acceleration and fuel economy. The ignition timing was way, way advanced and I think this was causing the most driveability issues. I've still got the usual idle issues but overall the car drives and runs great!

It also had a dodgy old fashioned wastegate bleed valve which was letting it boost like crazy, so I upgraded to a GFB electronic boost controller.

I've also done a couple things to tidy up the inside with a new steering wheel and replacing the gear and handbrake boots. Note the bubble-less dash!

The dash lights were completely blown in the climate control unit and the dash cluster ones were pretty average too. I upgraded these all to orange bulbs. The orange is awesome as it doesn't distract your eyes at night but is easy to see.

I'm learning a lot more than I ever thought I would about working on cars and I'm loving it more every day. Thanks a lot to everyone here on the forums who've taken their time to post how-to threads and put up with newbies asking all the dumb questions, you guys rule.

Future plans for the car include R34 NEO turbo, return flow FMIC, coil overs and a proper tune. I also need to install a catch can and would like to make the exhaust a bit meaner. Overall I want this car to be a good, reliable daily car which I can still have a lot of fun in. I'll keep this thread updated as best I can as I continue to work on and build the car.

My attempt at saving some money for other things failed miserably when some Tein Coilovers came up. They made their way onto my garage floor as well as some sweet camber arms I managed to get from the guy as well.The car had KYB shocks and decent springs in it but they were fairly worn out, and I'm 20 and the ride height just didn't cut it for me!

Sending her away for a wheel alignment this Friday, also changing the steer tie rod ends this week before the alignment as I noticed they're a bit noisy.

Pretty happy with how its coming together, now on the look out for a return flow intercooler and a new BOV. I'm pretty sure the Fast n Furious HKS BOV is leaking but its a antique so Im not surprised, it will have to go anyway when I replace the intercooler piping for the FMIC. Very low on funds now though so it might be a little while before you see an update from me!
