Afternoon boys and girls,

Bit of an odd one here but its more for reliability then anything else.

I have a 94 R32 GTR with only 50ish thousand kms on it. The car is immaculate and totally stock standard right down the the original radio etc.

As you can appreciate I never drive this thing and it spends 99.9% of its life locked up.

I do have a pair of -5 Garrett turbos though........ should I put these on the car? I know it has very low km but is age an issue with turbo reliability and the dreaded ceramic wheel? If I change the turbos and exhaust only will the car still drive properly or turn into a laggy pig?

Look forward to hearing from people in the know only please.

If you change the turbos (weather -5 or something else) you will need to tune it to ensure reliability which means changing the ecu, the fuel pump will also probably be 20 years old and need replacing in order to keep up with the fuel demand.

Also the injectors to actually use the flow the -5s are capable of unless you plan to stay at 270wkw in which case -5s aren't the turbo you should be looking at using

If you intend to keep the car completely standard and never modify it then you are best to leave the factory turbos on it, i had the factory turbos on mine till 2011 and since 2003 had been running 1bar of boost without issue

What a good point. I don't think this ha ever been asked.

You know I think that if you wanted turbos that spooled similar to those of standard items you would get the -7's. But I don't know. It's all here say.

Especially with the fact of do you want the turbo to spear in and take your motor with it. Or do you want to do some preventative maintenance?

Point is they shouldn't go ping unless he is running significantly more boost.

Or the car has been sitting for months not started or anything.

if the latter is the case, i wouldn't be worried about the trubos. Something else will go first.
