Rb25 Flywheel Ring Install

Just wondering if the ring that sits between the flywheel and the bolts is needed when installing flywheel.

Reason I ask is I have two motors one has it and the other doesn't

got a pic of the part you mean? the flywheel bolts do not have washers from the factory, but they do have a small flange.

I have never seen or used anything between my flywheel bolts and flywheel in the 8-10 times I have put them on.

You mean the washer? Doesn't it usually go under the bolt heads on the flywheel on some cars? Auto flex plates use them.

Unless its a modified box with a clutch conversion...

Oh those things. Yeah they are on autos only in my experience.

Is that pic rb?, they are both manual but perhaps the last owner converted auto to manual and thought they'd use it. Anyone have a pic from the workshop manual, I looked through my r32 gtr manual (closest I have to rb25) and can't find the damn flywheel part lol, is in the clutch section or the engine

EN100 in the GTR manual. There is definitely no spacer between the crank and the flywheel on a manual

As has been posted, that "ring" goes under the heads of the bolts in an auto application.

The flex plate is nowhere near as thick as a flywheel so perhaps Mr Nissan was trying to spread the load a bit?

Auto flex plate bolts are different to manual flywheel bolts too.

Install the ring in the rubbish bin. It has no place on a flywheel.

Think the last owner must have converted from auto to a manual and liked the idea of putting this on.
