Nissan Airbag Recall - Does This Effect Us?

I have been reading a bit about the Recent 2015 factory recall of Airbags from Japanese airbag manufacturer Takata.

I have tried to find information about our imports however there is very little information available.

I haven't found anything relating to 2006+ Skylines only items relating to 2008+ particular Infinity models on US sites.

Would anyone know if a 2006 Skyline V36 350GT Sp sedan is effected by this problem?

I have found info on the G35 Infiniti where its been recalled for their airbags

As all of this information is for the infiniti not too sure if it effects the Skyline.

I have not seen my airbag lights go on and I am thinking if i take it into Nissan Australia dealer they will tell me where to go!

Appreciate any advice or points in the right direction.

Haha, a Nissan Australia dealer most certainly will tell you "where to go". My experiences with them have been much less than favourable, and I can't imagine for a second they would be interested in telling you how or where to get your grey import fixed/looked at.

I have no idea if we are affected or not, or whether you can even buy non-fragmentally-explosive air bags for the V35 or V36. But I guarantee you will NOT like the price or airbags - a full set runs at about $5k retail - including needing to removed the dash to get to the passenger one, and unstitching the sides of your seats to access the side ones.

I can't recall the details printed on the back of the steering wheel airbag on my 05 V35 last time I had it off, but 'Takata' doesn't ring any bells.

2 security torx screws and you can lift the airbag off the steering wheel. you shouldn't even need to unplug it to read the detail on the label..
