Hicas Rear Tie Rod Stuck :(

Hi guys, i was replacing the hicas with a lock bar, i managed to pull off the rhs side of the tie rod.

But than the other side was a pain! its stuck inside the hicas unit, the tie rod wont budge at all, almost like they put thread locker on it, is it seized inside the threads?

i undid the tie rod ends by leaving the hicas still bolted up to the car, makes it easier, but after hours of swearing i took off the unit an called it a day

Kinda feel like cutting up the hicas unit just to free up the tie rod lol

I did this just the other day. I used a proper tie rod tool, but a big pipe wrench will get stubborn ones off too.

You need to shock it to crack the seal.

If you cant do that then borrow the tool.

If you cant do that then just take it to a shop, it wont cost an arm and a leg to do.

I think i had to piggyback spanners to crack one of mine. Were rather tight funnily enough

Just get a new tie rod, cheap as. Removing the rods from hicas rack can be a pain in the ass unless you know the trick.

When I got rid of hicas I just got new rods and didn't bother taking old ones off.

Having some proper tools like a Pitman Puller Arm will help. Good luck.
