I don't have a whole heap of different tools and my faves aren't anything special, they're just faves.

My Stanley spanners. They just feel nice, a good weight and just nice to use.

I have a heap of screwdriver bits (lots of torx for the VW's) and my Bosch electric screwdriver is just awesome. Makes light work of whatever million-thread screw i'm trying to undo.

I'd love to say I love my hoist or my engine stand but I aint got me none of them. :(

Yea low jack and cordless rattle guns are good!

Working on cars: Probably my large torque wrench. I'm a bit OCD with ensuring everything's set to spec so I'll even use it for wheel nuts if it's out of the shed.

Building/reno work: My 305mm double bevel sliding compound mitre saw and stand. "Cut 3 rough-swan 4x4s in one go you say?" *SKReeeeeEEEEEEEEeeeee* "There you go love." *sniffs dismissively, sculls can of beer, crushes it against forehead, grabs wife round the waist, bends her backwards with a forceful tongue-diving snog, jumps in car and does helis in the driveway*

Gonna say my ~140pc Stanley toolkit which fits perfectly behind my drivers seat in the rear passenger footwell - seriously, it's like it's made for it. Wedges in place when the seat is in my position and does not move about at all.

Has sockets, spanners, pliers, screwdrivers, ratchets, extensions, hex keys...every hand tool you'd need to pull apart a car or perform tricky roadside repair and these tools just don't break (have had a 1.5 metre jack handle as a breaker bar on the end of the ratchet trying to get a sumo plug off; the hard rubber handle wasn't even phased by this). Have a small torx set to go with it but that's all it needed additionally.

I also like Stanley tools because I'm OCD and given most of their stuff is chrome alloy or hard plastic / nylon, they just wipe clean with a cloth :)

Plus the coloured see-through screwdrivers haven't changed design in decades. They are the same as the Stanley screwdrivers I would nick from dad's toolkit when I was 5 years old :blush:

If it's gotta be individual tools though: ratchet spanners or ratchets on the whole are an amazing invention. Such satisfying little clicks those spanners give when tightening nuts.
