SXC32
I have installed an R34 gearbox in a R33 works fine but the speedo sensor in the R34 is in the diff. There is a blanked off input on the right rear of the gearbox with a worm drive visible in there. Has anyone put a drive unit into the R34 gearbox in to get the speedo working on a R33. Cheers. GTSBoy
It's the same gearbox. You should just be able to slide the drive in there. I'm surprised you are asking on a forum instead of just trying it. GTSBoy
Question? Is this an ex-auto car? Is it or was it an NA? Look closely at this image. On an R34 RB25DET gearbag, the speedo sender is located just behind the centre plate, low on the right side, just forward of the mount. Same as R33. The photo is of an R34 box. http://www.advancedjapautoimports.com.au/images/P/r34-gearbox.jpg Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/457578-r34-gearbox-in-r33-speedo-drive/#findComment-7553104 Share on other sites

GTSBoy
Let me get this straight. The speedo sender you want to use comes out of an auto. ? The gearbox you want to poke it into is an RB25DE manual from an R34. ? If so, this is the same gearbox (basically) as VL RB30, R32 RB20DET, etc, and is in no way similar to either the Nissan autos or the RB25DET manual. So it's not surprising that you can't make them work.
