Been working on it doing a little bit at a time

To clean the engine bay up a little more I moved the battery into boot

Started with it in the normal place, which it never fit correctly due to being to short

Then bought a battery tray from one stop batteries and proceeded to mount it in the boot

Started by putting 4x 8mm rivnuts into the boot floor

After vacuuming out the metal shavings I then bolted the battery tray into position 28AB60C8-28C3-456B-8FFD-BEFA16A96BC5.jpg

There is a big main fuse behind the battery for exactly that reason, the wiring is also secured down (didn't get a photo of it) and any where there are sharp edges there is rubber lining them to even further prevent that from happening

Test fitted it to make sure i didn't stuff up my measurements

Made and welded a bracket to go to the original bolt hole for the battery bracket and put a filter on, had planed to do something a bit different for that but the neatest way ended up being to just fit the filter there

Then after another trip to the fitting shop I swapped the 90° fittings for some 45s and made up the lines and fitted them

Im going to grab some hose spacer/holders for the lines to tidy it up a little, I also plan to powder coat the catch can but that can wait for now

Had the car detailed by Eugene and what a difference he was able to make to the paint. It now has so much more depth and the swirl marks are all gone. It has actually changed the colour of the car (in a good way) and it looks like the day I purchased it in 2003 again

The reason for having it detailed was I had entered it into the show and shine at the Gtr festival at wisd today

Been a while but have been really the last couple of months

a couple of months ago I decided I'd go for a drive to gosford with it. Well I didn't make it due to a it over heating and had it towed back

got home and opened the radiator and blocked would have been an improvement compared to what I could see in there

When you installed the valve springs, did you find it unnecessary to upgrade the retainers aswell?

Only asking, as ill be putting cams and headstuds into my car, and thought while I was there would up upgrade the springs and possibly the retainers.

The springs I used didn't require retainers, I'm also not reving the engine fast enough and by using the original ones it also meant I knew I wouldn't have to adjust any of the valve clearances

    • Welcome Alice......hope you have a bit more luck from here on! What was done in the build?
    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
    • yeah, there's a country that recently started importing Skylines, I blame them.
