Hi all,

My car has an oil filter relocation kit (not installed by me) and I'm trying to remove the oil filter.

Problem is its on there so tight that it is causing the mount it's attached to to bend when I twist it.

Do you have any tips for how to loosen this thing up? I've tried WD40 but it hasn't seemed to have helped.

Only other option I can think of is to completely remove the relocation kit and put the filter in a vice to unscrew.

Thanks.

Where is the relocation kit? Being that it is not a standard setup its a bit hard to give advice without seeing what can used to assist

I would have thought holding one of the fittings with one hand and turning the filter with the other might have worked, or getting a large shifter (or multigrips if you want to be a bit rougher) and grip the filter housing with that and turn the filter.

If the filter is to tight you may need a filter strap or worst case scenario a large screwdriver can be punched through it and used to turn it.

Post a photo of the filter relocation kit

Next time it happens, hold the relocation assembly steady with a large shifter on one of the oil line fittings while turning the filter, most people do it that way when its difficult.
