I found the AD08R to be absolute garbage in that last turn trying to get any power down (lowered the boost as much as possible and had big issues)

That said, can confirm am noob driver. My suspension is possibly f**ked though, but 5kg front and 4kg springs at near stock ride height is pretty fkin boaty and non track optimal, like everything that I haven't near immediately changed after actually trying to use it.

Birds, turns out that "Catch can" was actually pretty much venting to the engine bay as that's where it was disconnected (back to the intake, at the intake) and just pissing oil everywhere. Bought a replacement with actual baffling that will actually be setup actually correctly to actually catch oil (or at least put it it back into the intake and not into the engine bay), and actually get some actual tyres for the next time. (i.e, Nankang AR-1)

Or just cheat and get a GTR for those slow corner exits

Also that chaser was parked literally next to me. Was a nice guy!

Greg, I followed your car down the main straight, into turn 1,2,3,4,5 and partly down the back straight and I thought it looked to be handling quite well. As far as traction out of the last turn, with the amount of power and torque you have on tap, throttle control is the key and yeah the biggest r spec tyres you can fit would be a good f**ken idea.

Why did he need to get towed. What happened?

started blowing huge amount of smoke at end of the main straight so shut it off.

turned out to be a minor thing, over filled with oil

I had turned the boost down so I was running a fair bit less than 415, more like ~320ish but the delivery is still much the same and first time ever out on the track in the thing, I almost put it into a wall on the back straight coming on power too, so that was why I went home to get the laptop to turn that boost down before death. Obviously a stall converter not the easiest thing to feather but it's 'doable' with some restraint.

It did feel rolly and sloppy as all hell, but maybe that's what everyone is dealing with and I should just learn to drive :D Sure was fun though.

so where's the best place to buy AD08s? seeings as I need new rims anyways - dont they have a buy 3 get 1 free thing atm?

I feel like Hamish and me were the only ones that liked the NT05s

Dunno about best but Traction Tyres (inb4 Greg) sell them. Not cheap though. I got mine for $220 a corner a couple years ago but they were 2013 production so cheaper.

You don't have to go AD08s, RS3s are probably better value, but yeah much better options out there than NT05. Think Ric liked the Nittos too.

Yokohama buy 3 get 1 free special atm doesn't include ad08, only some shitty suv tyres. I got my ad08 through bob jane of all places, was actually better priced than traction tyres. I noticed the tyre factory advertising RS3 last week on ebay for 269 for 265/35/18.

Given I could plant 1st and 2nd on the street without breaking traction (without warming them up) in a 320rwkw car with 320rwkw at the wheels I was damn impressed.

edit: 320rwkw

to add more 320rwkw

FWIW I found no real huge difference in NT05 and AD08R in terms of grip for the street. Housemate with RS3 and AD08R noticed no mega difference, maybe the AD08R lives a bit longer due to the higher cost so you aren't swapping as much.

No back to back laptime data etc though, all by that seat feel.

Been looking at RS3 as well, as usual barely any around in the sizes I want, sent a few emails this morning for some quotes, most with this response:

"Sorry they have no stock of either sizes. I have checked a couple of sizes close to the size you have asked for and stock very limited."

Seems to be more Invo / NT05s

This to me isn't so much evidence of NT05s being good but hub dynos being liars

121 mph trap speed @ circa 1550 kg inc fat-ass driver.

your move...

They are more luxury performance tyres, like the Continentals, where they will perform well in dry and wet but you also get less road noise than cheaper tyres.
