Shannons do my contents insurance.

Good thing about them is garage cover up to 10k I think, so wheels, tools and memorabilia etc. if they get stolen.

Don't you have to have it for your loan?

that's one of my requirements for our house loan. (house insurance not so much contents)

Got building insurance through body corporate but contents isn't covered as far as im aware.. real estate gurus can confirm?

Edit: yeah i want to go with someone that will cover my trailer behind gates too.

When I was like 10 my parents got stooged my KLX125 got stolen (small dirt bike) AAMI said it's not covered under contents, argument was its basically a pocket bike that has no rego or anything and that they'd been with AAMI for 25 years etc.

My Just Car policy has somewhat automatically switched over to their underwriters AAMI. The TPF&T cover is exactly the same, but their premium is $260 instead of the $400 JC charged me...go figure? They seem to have a much higher excess ($1200) than JC did, so maybe that's why...

Wonder if the move was just to consolidate or to force customers into lower premium / higher excess options?

$260 a quarter? agreed value or market? I'm guessing agreed as market value on a R33 would be sheit these days

I got 10k agreed on my road regoed dirt bike.. tempted to ride it to the station or cinemas one night when ready to sell, surely it'd be gone hah.

I don't like leaving it anywhere, no key and can start it up and ride off

third party sounds right for 260 a year, I was $131 on the S14.

you can adjust the excess back down to the original value and your premium will go back to around the original.

really depends on what you want and where it parked.

A year...

It's third party fire and theft which is almost always market value. But up to 10k which is max for theft anyway. Wasn't difficult to argue Leesh's R33 was worth 10k when that got stolen and realistically it was probably worth 6-7.

Not doing comp insurance on a GTS-T...Shannons wanted $1200 a year for it lol

They offered me the same on our M35 stag, 260 with 1200 excess. I hope they offer me the same on the gtst. Birds, did you have any mods listed for yours?

Yes all my legal mods were listed with JC just for disclosure. Not listed on the AAMI replacement policy, but I haven't had a chance to amend it. There is a line on there about fitted options/accessories/modifications being included in the amount you're covered for, which is only 10k anyway, so it's probably less relevant to third party than comprehensive where you could claim extra for mods. Unless you're concerned about disclosure and being denied a TPF&T claim because of modifications not mentioned.

Yeah, I'm more concerned about having a claim denied due to unknown mods. Like you, I had only listed legal mods. Most of my stuff is concealed well and doesn't look too out of place, except for the roll cage lol. I may have to rethink that one.

Fk me, the dumb connections people draw while trying to be offended...they want the AFL to do something about him cause he was wearing a footy top at the same time? What's it got to do with football or other supporters? Will Nike ban him from their stores cause he wears their shoes lol

Roll cage isn't illegal though is it? just say you do track days with it and surely theyd be fine..

full cage is not legal, half cage is if your car has been modified to be a 2 seater, so you have to pull the rear seats/belts and get it checked at vicroads.

Not illegal if engineered

Pretty sure those rules have now changed, even a half cage needs to be signed off by an engineer and then car must be registered as 2 seater. Cars that are already regod as 2 seater on old rules are ok i believe. So, i either remove it or roll the dice. Decisions, decisions.

How are 18 years old going to register their illegally modified 86's for $30k without just car around?

I guess there's not many NA supras getting around with 10k stereos and 500 wheels anymore... Times are a changing.

You COULD get a full cage engineered. But who the f**k is going to run normal seats and a full cage? Fixed back seats not allowed. Then you'd need engineered for every other modification. Engineer says good luck or pay me thousands to say no.

    • ADHD in all form isn't about "can focus, or can't focus" or is hyper active or isn't etc.   It's all a dysregulation. Either time feels to be stationary, or time just vanishes in a split second. We are either under focussed on the task at hand (as we're over focussed on our surroundings) or we have no idea an atomic bomb went off beside us as we're so hyper focussed and locked in on things.   Not to mention the rapid fire thought process. What it takes a "normal" process to think up a solution to a problem, ADHD will be able to give you 5 different ways to solve the problem, and the pros and cons of each. While we can be highly impulsive and lack the ability to "control ourselves" we can also become paralysed with the inability to make a decision for ourselves. While most of us have an OCD like requirement for perfection, we lack the ability often to remain focussed to get things to a perfect state. Those with undiagnosed ADHD as adults, can often find the last part actually stops them ever attempting to do things that they have the ability to do, as the reasoning is often "if I can't do it perfectly, it's not worth doing"   As for projects... Ha ha ha, I still need to take the other half of my wall trim down in the Fiance's office so I can paint it. Need to finish digging and running the back yard drains, my R33, getting the Ninja bike registered (now being sold), the moped project, fixing either of the lawn mowers so they're reliable, along with a myriad of other things.   It's why I've been going through lately and just being brutal and clearing projects off that I won't actually ever complete. IE, moped will go to the tip, or be given away, bike is being sold, Subaru project being sold, some parts for other projects given away. Or I've been making myself focus on one thing at a time, by ticking off the smallest quickest ones first.   There's also a reason by our mid twenties we seem to be "know it alls", as we've all been down some of the weirdest and oddest rabbit holes when you follow the dopamine trail. It's often also why we're more a jack of all trades, but not a master of one.   However, pretty much all of my hobby projects, in one way or another, all come back around to automotive. That's my zen area.
    • Remember reading about this not too long ago. been for sale for a long time  this is like when the wife says you need to sell the car so you put it up for a ridiculous price no one will pay
    • You are perhaps suggesting that it is not a super car? Well....it's not an AU.
    • Dropped the MX5 of this morning to get the hardtop colour matched and some PDR done, they are also going to give it a buff to remove some "stubborn" swirl marks and light scratches in the clear coat Over the last few months the poor little thing has copped some shopping centre car park abuse, I try to not park in them, but hitting Westfield's a few times over the last few months has taken its toll, nothing really bad, but enough of a trigger for a "while we're in there" thingie  Once it's back and all the one colour, with a few dents and mark's removed I'll give some of these products a go and see what they're like
