I'd say it'd be doing more if it gets me a property that someone else is paying off for me than it's doing reducing the interest on my loan..

If it's interest only like most investment properties the tennants aren't paying off anything. They are just paying the interest while you wait for capital gains

Good point, but eventually you'd aim to get it positive geared so the loan is coming down...

regardless ham you need the interest paying and eventually they'll also be paying principal too. I prefer to view rentals as a revenue stream pay them

Off and positively gear them not too here or there on capital gains as I wouldn't intend on selling them

Once I've paid my place off, all the money that was going to repayments could be added to the rent to smash that second loan down real quick... Then repeat the cycle til I have a monopoly and build some hotels

I don't remember downplaying the GFC in any VWL discussions...that shit cost me at least 4-5 grand in share value and I got off lightly
