What other promises?

Almost all of them?

Part of politics in Australia is having policies that are actually good enough to get through, not just coming up with whatever you feel like and complaining when it is blocked.

It's sometimes war, sometimes poverty, sometimes government persucution, sometimes other things, sometimes a combination.

You have this rosey view that anyone can be successful if they work for it, but you don't seem to be able to comprehend that some people aren't simply born into luck like you were.

No one, puts their kids in a boat if they don't need to. You wouldn't go somewhere else you would be likely to live in poverty, especially given you are going to start again with nothing.

I don't know about that, in a world where western countries have kids just to get handouts and in some countries children are born and sold into slavery, it would not surprise me if some are used as tools, possessions and pathways to better lives. I think some would get on board legitimately not understanding how risky it is getting here and the slim shady chances of getting in.

Slimmer now.

That's a fair and true statement statement to make, but IMO does not mean they haven't tried to keep the promises they went to election with, or that they have necessarily back flipped on issues / stances (the traditional politician's path to breaking promises).

I'm not going to say that's not possible but it would be the EXTREME minority

Your literally talking about economic refugees it's completely different and don't think for a second they don't have other choices those crappy boats they put a fortune to get on.

I won't for one second feel guilty about being fortunate enough to be in this country.

I'm taking about refugees in general. Of course they don't have a choice, do you think the preference boats over planes because they like the sea air?

No one is suggesting you should feel guilty, just that perhaps you could look at it from their perspective, rather than your priveliged white Australian middle class perspective. They aren't here to steal your job and f**k up your life, they are here because they are desperate to have a better life themselves. If the situation was reversed you'd do the same for your family... any of us would.

Legitimate refugees yes. Economic refugees no.

Middle class come on brah that's a low blow

Class is defined by socioeconomic status, which in itself comprises income, education, occupation, geography etc...

You live in the west, work full time and have no higher education. Welcome to the middle bitch

I made 3.

You live in the west. You are proud of this and state it often.

I'm not sure if how many hours you work these days but you have previously stated that you work hard / a lot.

2 out of 3 ain't bad unless you have moved and got a degree in the last month

so... someone living in cupboard in toorak with a PhD in cross-stitching working full-time at Spotlight is living the high life?

Lol not really, the geography piece is linked to how your finances are geared vs income etc.

Although a lot of places in Toorak are not a lot bigger than cupboards, hence it not being the most exxy suburb anymore.

I also dont think a PHD in cross stitching is offered.

    • Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365. Scan of a magazine with the black R33 from 1996: Wayback machine archived page from May, 2000: https://web.archive.org/web/20000529061027/http://www.emotion-r.co.jp/skyline.html Option magazine with a few photos from the Cockpit Tatebayashi booth at the Auto Salon from various years: 2002: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=154&image_id=3507 2003: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=137&image_id=3033 2005: http://www.jdm-option.com/photo/index.php?action=item&category_id=116&image_id=1831 In 2008 Cusco website mentions that the Cockpit Tatebayashi ECR33 was displayed at that year's Tokyo Auto Salon: https://www.cusco.co.jp/event/2008/12/post_735.html As of 2021 it appears that the ECR33 demo car ended up being exported to Florida, USA: https://rmcmiami.com/inventory/1996-nissan-skyline-r33-cockpit-tatebayashi-demo-car-big-te06-turbo-endless-brakes-lsd-450hp/ And finally here's Google streetview of the Emorion R garage in 2023 which is amazingly not only still there, but the showroom is still full of various parts in stock and funishings, etc.: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ttyEAZdZLyzermyT9 Apologies for nerding out a bit. I used to love doing this 20 years ago on SAU and got a bit nostalgic for a moment... 😅
