Hi All

Thought I would see if anyone knows how the lighting-dimmer circuit works on the Navigation/TV screen?

What I'm trying to do is stop the dimming of the Nav screen when the lights are turned on. I'm finding that at night or low light, the screen is too dark to see much through my reversing camera, where'as if I turn the lights off, I can see what is on the screen much better. So I thought I would disable the dimmer circuit for the screen.

My reversing camera is brand new and is working fine, so there is no problem with that.

I know that the screen dimmer circuit and the rest of the stereo/nav controls are separate when it comes to the lighting/dimmer.

I have a 2005 M35 Series 2 Stagea wagon.

I know what wires controls the lighting for the rest of the stereo and Nav control panel, but I'm not sure how the screen dimming is controlled.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Unfortunately my Japanese is very poor. Do you have any idea what I should be looking for in regards to what could be on the screen that would indicate a choice in dimming or not dimming?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Rotaman

OK this is how to do it on a WC34 Xanavi.

We have a Display/Screen button (画面) push this.

Then push the 減光切替(screen dimmer) touch screen button. This toggles from bright all the time to dim when the headlights are on. It's probably easier to do when the headlights are on as the screen will brighten/dim when you push the button.

It's probably different on the M35 OEM screen but you may be able to work it out from the Kanji characters.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info, I had a look at the screen dimmer setup on my car and just by luck I happen to notice that when the lights are on the brightness control slider on screen was in a different position then when the lights were off.

So I have altered the lights on screen brightness and seems like it might have sorted my problem.

Thanks again.
