High Oil Pressure

On my last service I used Penzoil 10w-50 i think, and every morning when start my car the Oil Pressure guage is at 8, after driving for a while it drops to normal....

Previously i used Castrol 5w-30 while gave lower pressure all round but never gave a high reading i.e 8...

Is this normal??

ive been using motul 8100 which is 5-40 i think and it still goes up to 8 when starting the first time for me like it did with the castrol 5-30. i would hope that this is normal.

8 when cold is fine, just don't thrash it when cold or you might blow a seal or something. It's a good incentive to keep your foot off the gas until it warms up, which you should be doing anyway.
