hey guys, im headin down to osaka next weds for 2 weeks and i figured id ask the gurus of japan for the "to go" places.

we will be doin the typical sight seeing around the area like kyoto and stuff like that for a couple days but as were staying in oska most of the time, id like to emerse myself in the street/sub culture of japan. so if anyone knows where i could find:

- markets...sunday markets.

- dance studio's/shops.....im into all that bboying and house step.

- entertaining laid back night life

- strange and bizzare places...shops

- electronic and fashion area's

- and of course places like autobacs, up garage so i can pick up some goodies.

if u could also be kind enough as to doodle on the map to show me roughly where things are that would be great!! its not the best map in the world but thats all i could find on the net.

cheers.

Tempozan or Nanko WTC/ATC

Amerikamura, Shinsaibashi area.

Amrikamura, Sannomiya (Kobe) heaps of clubs and discos.

everywhere is strange and bizarre...city back streets.

- electronic and fashion area's

Electronics: Nipponbashi, Yodabashi superstore (Umeda).

Autobacs are everywhere, closest ones in Umeda (Osaka city) is West of JR Osaka

Give us a hell when your here...and show you a few nices places.

Kyoto is a tourist place so it is quite self orientated and English speaking.

thanks for that....i cant wait to get there.

with the markets....is there a certain day that theyre on or is it pretty much everyday??

gonna hold u on that:D:D thanks again.

210?? fark me.....i dont think ive ever done 200 before...haha. looks like a really good trip along the coast:D

my trip might last only 10 days so far due to fights. been put on the waiting list to get another 5 days out of it....arrrgghh!! i just hope i get it:D

in regards to buying stuff like clothing and electronics in general...is there any room for asking for a better price? or would i come across as being a cheap ass foreigner and get a "THIS AINT BALI MATE" look. cause im lookin at gettin the canon IXY 500 in japan for around Y38,000-Y40,000 or so wich is like $250 or so cheaper than in australia.

Absolutely no chance of haggling in Japan....you will find the prices of most things in Nipponbashi to be almost the same from shop to shop. Just be careful about cams.....I know lots about the Sony DSC cams and if you buy a Japanese domestic model, you can still change to English/;PAL/ and use 240v....but you won't get an English manual Some of the shops in Nipponbashi (nicknamed denden town) carry international models...

The markets....mate, don't waste your precious holiday time......alot of the markets in japan sell used clothes at ridiculous prices....new clothes are cheap enough, but you have to watch for really dodgy english on T-shirts. If you wear anything larger than an M size is Australia, you are gonna struggle.....for jeans, pants....larger than a 34.....no chance.

I would spend the money and go to Universal Studio Japan....the only thing is, you are coming here during school holidays...you will be pretty overwhelmed by the crowds i think....

pfft what are you talking about.... if you shop in tokyo ask for a discount.... if ur un akihabara you will most likely get one... i saved qbout 40 dollars on my digital camera.... a few months back oh and my eletric dictionary... and this sunday my cd/ dvd/mp3 5.1 stereo system...

if your lucky and Justin gets his car in time...we'll go for a run on the Wangan, Route 4 and 5 from the airport all the way to Kobe...cruising speed is 210km/h :D
My old girl? I hope she can get up to 210km/h, let alone exceed it!
