Temperature Gauge Stuck In The Middle

2001 Skyline 250GT

Recently noticed that the temperature gauge stopped moving. Did an engine change the other day so would there be a possibility that I unplugged something?

The temperature gauge is perfectly in the middle between cold and hot even in freezing morning temperatures.

Yep.

Of course you could have done something.

It's heaps unlikely a problem like that just pops up on its own.

Is there a plug or anything that's quite easy to hit? I'm pretty sure it happened right after the change. Where is the sensor located?

Back of the engine, so likely you damaged it.

Why did you do the engine swap?

Not really.

Have a look down the back of the drivers side head, there is an alloy crossover pipe with a single wire temp sensor tapped into it. Just make sure the plug is on nicely. Other than that you may need an auto elec, either the wire, sensor or dash gauge itself is faulty.
