Transmission Diagnosis

1997 Stagea Series 1, Auto, AWD

Problems first started when the transmission would go in to limp mode when driving on the highway. Basically stuck in 2nd gear. I do the transmission fault codes and pull up error code 1 and 2. Both Vehicle speed sensors, ok no big deal.

While under the car trying to replace VSS-1 I notice this

What is that nipple/bleeder for and why would it spew out fluid like shown in the picture? Any idea if the failed VSS-1 is connected to this fluid leakage? It's right beside the VSS.

It's for the attessa. Your awd.

and it should release attessa fluid when you open the bleeder if the car is on or the bleeder bypass is connection is made at the diagnostic plug so you can bleed the system. It is in no way related to your gearbox

Thanks guys. I am absolutely stumped why that bleeder is releasing fluid on its own.

Oh well I guess bleeding the Attessa is next on the list.
