I am currently interested in buying a E60 , can someone advise on reliability , performance and maintenance .

I have done a fair bit of research and always looking for more info from an actual owner .

To buy one they are basically the same price as an R34 GTR .

yes a mate has one, i have driven, fantastic car awesome daily with some great performance on tap.

is a great car, however you need to be a bit thrifty on spares or you will end up paying a mint i.e. obtaining parts from the USA on them as local dealers will f**k you in the ass for it.

Was always wondering where the best place is to source parts if i go down that path . Brakes rotors and clutches are ridiculously expensive to replace .

Also unfortunately private BMW mechanics take the piss as well with repairs , realised this from owning an old Porsche .

yup dude i know with one does alot of the work himself,

even fitted a gintani blower kit himself as no one else has the expertise to do it really

got a whole new rear subframe, diff etc from the USA for $600 from memory so he could fit his new diff gears and have a drop out / bolt in change over of diff gears.

Have you got a fault code finder to plug in? It'll also need to be relevant to the E60.

Yes , will get one if i buy an E60 probably a smart idea . You've owned BMWs Terry ? I remember reading somewhere .

God I love these. Can only imagine how thirsty they are.

Yeah , the V10 sound is amazing the E60 has the same Litres /100kms as my Land Rover about 15 .5 L / 100kms , thats at best .

Lol at fuel economy. Mash the pedal with a smile and curse the bowser lol

Lol . Test drove a 2006 E60 today , they are surprisingly quick and a really hard ride for a BMW ..............Enjoy that fuel consumption .

Have always had a real soft spot for these. Would love to see how your findings go. Found Pelican Parts in the USA pretty good for info / guides and parts for BMW. I have a little e36 325i and the guides were invaluable. Have heard much the same regarding servicing etc being insane. If you're handy I imagine you could cut costs quite a bit. No idea on Adelaide however I've found one or two euro mechanics in South East Melbourne who weren't just running the shop to rape and pillage every customer.

Have a heap of parts listed for e60 M5's. - http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperCat/4121_catalog.htm

Pretty sure I've watched this YT clip of an e60 with Meisterschaft exhaust about 100 times. Jizz.... every.... time.... -
