Hey all

I am interest on how bad are my wheels sitting with camber and toe i have attached an image that i received when the wheel alignment was done.

All i can assume is the target data is the data they believe is the best for my vehicle, it is stating on the on paper the vehicle i drive

OK. 4 degrees of -ve camber on the rear is just bloody stupid. Is it lowered until the exhaust is scraping on the road? The only time that much neg camber makes sense is on a very fast circuit car on slicks.

Your original rear toe numbers were massively toed out and it would have felt awful. The new settings are still toed out and it will possibly still feel unsettled. That is unless you like a really active rear end. The other possibility is that I am reading your sheet wrongly. I had assumed that the target data for the rear was indicating toe in (which I would expect). If it is fact recommending toe out, then you have a lot of toe in and it will be a bit dead . This is an important point because it impacts what I have to say about the front toe.

Your front camber numbers are about as highly negative as I would want on the street. For a street car I would go for a little less.....like -1.5°. But -2 is OK. You will wear the inside edges of the front tyres a little faster than the rest.

Your front caster numbers are high and OK. That is about where people would like to have them. I note that they did not change them in the alignment.....does this mean you do not have adjustable caster rods on the front? If you put some on you may be able to get even a little more caster if you wanted.

Your front toe was all f**ked up. It probably needed a lot of steering wheel angle to drive straight. Either that, or the steering wheel was pulled off and put back on one spline out!! Your new toe is at least even. It appears as if the recommended toe at the front is toe out. That's not normal - normal Nissan specs are toe in. So I may be reading your sheet backwards. Anyway, if the spec is for toe in, then you have a lot of it and it will be dull. If the spec is for toe out, then you have a lot of toe out and you will find it very darty and possibly hard to control. And if it is in fact toed out, then coupled with your -2° camber, you will almost certainly destroy the inside edges of your tyres.

The normal system for reporting toe angle is that +ve is toed in and -ve is toed out. In that case both ends of your car are set up with quite a lot of toe in, which will be dead and dull to drive. At least at the front they might have done it to compensate for the wear from the front camber.

Is your car heavily modified or accident damaged?

The shop has been unable to reach their target figure in most cases. I am surprised that they couldn't get the toe right as there is normally plenty of adjustment available.

The front castor is fine but the camber is a bit high and will chew out tyres. The rear camber is as GTSBoy says OTT.

You didn't make the same mistake I did and get a cheap alignment done did you? I had one done last year on my R34 sedan and they completely f'ed up all the settings.

What happened was they were looking for the make and model in the alignment machine database, didn't find a match (surprise), and just randomised some other car's settings.

They also had a completely blank look when I started talking about the adjustable arms I have, lucky to have had the skill to turn the alignment machine on I reckon.

My recommendation is to take the car to a reputable shop and pay for a proper alignment.

I think we can safely say that Kres is located somewhere in Eastern Europe. So whether or not the alignment was "cheap", there is going to be a fair chance that the shop is not that familiar with Skylines. Although, I have seen plenty of 4 door R34s in the porn that comes out of Czech Republic, Ukraine and Russia.

Or he has hectic stance and fitment bro and need the camber to make the wheels actually fit the car

It is toed in front and rear which is right and for the amount of camber is pretty close to where you'd want it, the camber ridiculously high but as I said before that could because of hectic fitment

    • This was a huge help.  We followed the steps,  although shifting into 2nd was actually into 3rd for us,  and 1st was into 2nd ( steps 9 and 11) .  The long flash was the 4th flash.  So shift solenoid A is possibly the culprit.  Is this inside the transmission itself? Or is it accessible by just front the pan? Or is it bolted to the outside of the transmission?  Thanos for your help everyone
    • Can you enlighten me on your best practice regarding these hoses? I don't wanna make the same mistake if you already got a better solution.
    • I have some silicon hoses already, for example engine to watercooler. But yeah, I get the sentiment. The lower intercooler silicon hose is drippy too, despite not being very old. Does anyone except Nismo make these same lines out of rubber? Long term I think they'd be the better replacement, especially since the car won't live as hard a life anymore as in the past nor be driven as often.
    • I know most issues are just age related. But for example the turbo oil drains, there is dash adapters for these and you can just make a braided teflon line for them and (probably) never have them leak again. Also not terribly expensive. Can you even get the factory hardlines from new? Or are they repairable if they break?
    • I know it'd be much much easier with the tool. I hope I can find one that won't take 3 weeks to get to me an isn't a "Asian models kit" that has tons of (to me) useless adapters for a load of cash.   It's a summer project/fun car. I do wanna enjoy it, without endless downtime over and over. So yeah I would even go and buy an engine crane + stand to save myself the trouble of hard to reach or unreachable places going bad later on. Would also be a good opportunity to put on a Fluidamper, renew the mains seals and stuff like that. I have some money on the side that I can use for that, what I wouldn't want to or be able to do is let everything be done by a shop or have my engine completely rebuild right now. I intend to do most of the "doable" jobs myself. Pulling an engine can't be that hard, can it?
