Hi all, I have an EBoost on my RB25, for hose 2 which is the pressure only source, it's currently T'd into a vacuum line on the top of the throttle body as per picture post-98833-14426470700192_thumb.jpg, which I believe is wrong, where should it be from? The manual says somewhere before the intercooler but I can't find anywhere.

It should go between your wastegate actuator and where it picks up its boost feed

What turbo is it? If it is setup using the above boost source to the actuator then you may be able to drill and tap a fitting into the compressor housing. Or just pull the cooler pipe immediately after the turbo outlet off and take it to an exhaust shop and they should be able to weld a nipple into it

The point where it is going on the throttle body is a pressure only port but i wouldnt use it

Sorry port 3 not 2, my bad. I've got port 3 going to the wastegate (its internal gate BTW). There's no nipple on the comp housing and no nipple/feed on the cooler piping between the turbo and intercooler so is there somewhere else appropriate or do I need to get something made up?

Ideally you want the line that runs to the solenoid via the pressure only port to come from the place where boost is going to be MOST ACCURATELY recorded. Therefore the Compressor housing is (if possible) the best source. Like 89CAL said above, the port on your TB is a pressure only port, however because boost levels could (and will) drop as they travel through your piping and cooler core, the final boost level which is received and displayed at the TB is lower than that actually created by the turbo at the compressor housing. (All intercooler cores and piping setups with joiners lose some pressure, this depends on the quality and length of piping and joiners, the size of piping, the quality of the core etc) :)

What turbo?

If stock then I took the outlet elbow off mine (I assume R32's have the same thing, can't remember) and drilled and tapped a fitting in there. Meant I didn't have to remove the compressor cover and mess with it, and could still get a boost feed from the turbo outlet.

On other turbo's there is sometimes a cast flat section on the comp cover that you can do the same with that

Taking a cooler pipe out and getting a nipple welded into it is the next easiest thing to do. There are such things as weld free nipples that you have to drill a hole in the pipe for, then the nipple feeds from the inside and has a seal that sits against the pipe and then a nut and a seal on the outside. I would just get one welded in though

This is the best photo I have of mine. I got female adapters welded into the pipework so that I could screw in fittings.

Mental note for the future:

That location of that tapping point will give an artificially high pressure signal. Much higher than the actual static pressure at that point. This is because it is on the outside of the bend and the velocity of the flowing air stream will stagnate in the tapping point and collapse back to static pressure - which it does so in addition to the actual static pressure there.

For boost control this might not actually matter. It's just an arbitrary signal to work against and the user calibrates it against a boost gauge from the plenum/manifold anyway. But for other possible applications (ie, wanting to actually know the static pressure at that location) you will get an erroneous measurement.

I drilled and tapped the compressor housing and screwed in a nipple.
