Who is YOUR favourite japanese musician??

Recommended Posts

Utada gets the big thumbs up from most of the Japanese population aswell... as for me I've been an Ayu fan for ages and ages. What a hottie... some of her songs (and I emphasise SOME!) are pretty good IMO.

The lo-fi punk/rock scene is pretty good - couldn't care less for the mainstream dribble. It's amazing that some of the (almost 'garage') bands get record deals and airplay though - I guess the size of the market allows it.

husking bee - is my recommendation

would love to see them at fuji rock this year (which is in my neighbourhood) - that has to be one of the best festival line-ups ever pity about the ticket price... A$480 has to be the just about the most expensive general admission ticket of all time

i like the j-rock stuff myself but my all time fave will have to be HYDE and L'arc en ciel..though they are the same thing pretty much..haha. anyone know where i can buy a Hydeist t-shirt?? I think Bonnie pink rocks too but larc will always be one of the greatest. Utada is good only cause she has that U.S hip hop background and she can sing english:D:D

The stuff by MOVE (the super Eurobeat you'r talking about) seems the second best thing out of japan i've ever heard, I think they're really good and i was a fan even before i ever heard of initial d .

The BEST music is definelty anything SUPER ROBOTS related; ie: Mazinger z's Ichiro Mizuki, Grendizer's Isao Sasaki and even the new generation like Hironobu kageyama (well know for his songs in Shin Getter robo). also i like some of JAM's music , but not all. only the ones that dont have the two girls in them (dont like them and dont know their names).

any more super robot fans here????

I have heaps of SEB on mp3, but even better are the Video OPTION drift vids with SEB mixed over the top. The Super Eurobeat presents Boostin' Hot ones with Dave Rodgers tracks mixed over the top are grouse. There's one with a "Smoke on the Water" SEB remix on it that's just clips of all these guys drifting in the rain and loosing it into the mud, flying into an embankment and front/rear bars flying everywhere.

They're made by avextrax, who are the same people that distribute ID.

But yeah, anything by Move is great. Night of Fire is a great SEB song, a real bad influence whilst driving though. Especially if you've watched a fair bit of ID.

www.eurobeat-prime.com and eurobeat.org is your friend. You guys should get the JGTC special torrent.

most of the SEB stuff is all italian only (think after SEB 101 they started including japanese ones), most of the J-Euro stuff is Ayumi remixes or MAX.
