Have been lurking for a while reading the other threads (which have helped immensely, thanks) but now am getting to the specifics for my car. I'm looking to run around the 200rwkw mark safely and need some advice/opinions/clarifications regarding how to proceed next. I've read the RB25DETT stage 1 & 2 tuning guides, and most of the applicable forced inductions stickies, so I feel I've got a good base. Have a 1998 R34GTT with the following: (all of this was in when I got it from Japan. I've not had it a while and am looking to modify it further) - HKS 3" turbo back exhaust (with cat) - ARC Super Induction box - HKS EVCII electronic boost controller (running stock boost; dual stage 5-7PSI) - Nistune chip -BC Racing coilovers All of these came in the car when I received it, apart from the BC's which i'm putting in this weekend as the coilovers that came with it (GAB) have gone. I've been recommended to follow up my current mods with the following (in no order): -FMIC (Cooling pro or Blitz return flow [want to retain stock piping/less cutting]) - Walbro 400LPH Fuel Pump -Z32 AFM (is this ebay one legit? Have read about fakes. Should I just pay extra and stick to justjap.com? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161260276509?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) Then get it tuned & up the boost to 8PSI and 10PSI on both available settings for everyday street use. Am aware of not boosting it past 12, 11PSI would be my max. Car is my daily and am not looking to drift/track day it. Just want something that can go. Thoughts? What modification would be the most beneficial, and are the ones i've listed required? Will do a tune at the end. Apologies again if this has been covered heaps. Have been trawling the forums and just wanted peoples opinions on my cars specifics, if the mods that have been recommended to me are required and the order to go about installing them. Thanks! The Walbro 400L pump is not a great option, either go the e85 one, which is way overkill, or stick to the 255 I would recommend. Even the stock pump should flow that easily. Pretty sure the stock AFM will be fine, as would the intercooler if you were willing to try and push it's limits. If you want reliability, stick a highflow turbo in, the stock one will let you down eventually. admS15 Posted October 21, 2015 Share Posted October 21, 2015 For your aim of 200rwkw none of that is required. A new pump would be good but that 1 is a bit big for your requirement. Retune for 12psi and target should be met or close enough. The stock afm can flow around 220rwkw or so. The z32 you linked looks legit but I have been warned away from that particular seller buy a prominent tuner that got sick of trying to tune cars with that sellers dodgy z32's. When buying products like that, you're better off buying from reputable companies. E.g kudos motorsports, just jap and so on. Intercooler upgrade would be advisable but not totally necessary. Thanks for that. I've always been keen on the return flow intercoolers, and i've budgeted for one and may upgrade in the future, so i'll bite that bullet now & go that anyhow. Agree with you on the reputable companies, just wanted to double check. I'll stick with JJ, better to pay that bit extra for peace of mind! Any thoughts on specific boost to run? EBC allows me to have two preset modes. Was thinking 8 PSI for daily, with the option of 10/11PSI for when i wanted that 'bit of extra'. Have read through the forums and can see R34's are generally ok til around 12PSI, however was weary of their longevity at this must boost.This question has been asked to death, I know. The only time 2 settings is worthwhile, and even then it's still not , is when making huge power to make the car somewhat sensible on the street. Good advice above too. Haha, I am due (i.e I want new ones) wheels and with that, tyres soon (upgrading to 18" set up) so that's definitely on my list! Also keen to look into a driving day at the local track to learn my about myself as a driver etc. Suspension i think i'm covering with BC Racing coilovers (fits the budget) and lastly is that little bit of power i'm after! Other little bits will be the front lip (similar to your profile photo) and ideally smoked out or clear front bar indicator lights (amber orange doesn't really suit the midnight purple/black look of the car). Just want tasteful modifcations, but still with some power underneath. It's a slow process but surely!
