removing brake light's protective perspex

Is it possible to remove the perspex covering on the brake lights on a series 3 R31? Is there a seal which can't be broken?

What I want to do is black out the lights. But I'm not going to use the black spray perspex paint. I am going to buy cheap window tint from supercheap and use that. If the laws change against blacking out or it doesn't go to plan, Off comes the tint, no biggy.

A few people have done it, and someone made a thread about how to remove the plastic.

Once you have sprayed tint onto the plastic, you're stuck with it, you can't just take it off
