I am sorry, antilag is not part of the 'Sensible 300kw package'.

Shhh, lol.

Lol it is, just too much retard in Bill's case.

Never go full retard, only half retard.

(Single digit ignition retard numbers for next turbo lol).

Yes I'm partially retarded but commo bogan turned me into full retard momentarily.

I think i had set it at - 40 to 45°

The other thing I didn't mention is the 2 step part (rev limiter) which is set at 3500rpm didn't activate. So she revved pretty good. Probably my dodgy wiring.

It is also possible the turbo bearings where on their way out. Anyway turbo is off to hypergear. We'll see what Tao says.

Did you tune this yourself, testing at say 0 degrees, then -5, -10, -20, -30 constantly screaming more bangs! and laughing maniacally?

I hope so lol.

Sensational bang bangs

The bangs where quite good when the rev limiter was active. I just went and double checked my settings was 10% enrich and 35° retard. Pretty sure with the adaptronic that's not absolute. Eg if base timing is 15° advanced then -35 is 20° retarded. Correct me if I'm wrong sir.

Of course I did until my across the road neighbour came over yelling and screaming, had to drive to somewhere secluded to continue. -35 was where I settled and was producing 10psi on the 2 step.

The problem here has been the limiter not activating and the turbo making a shit load more boost and heat than 10 psi would.

Anyway turbo was dropped off earlier. Tao had a quick look, bearings are still good and he believes either something went through the engine, like a spark plug tip or some sort of debris. I'm just hoping it's not a bit of piston like in dosepipes. Going to check the plugs and do a comp test when I get a chance.

The other theory is excessive heat produced due to tiny 21u exhaust housing and erm anti lag. I'll know more once it's fully stripped.

He's trying to convince me to moving to a op6 housing with bb core. At this point I'm still wanting to stay with what I had as I couldn't be bothered with redoing my water lines, oil return and retuning again but I may change my mind.

You are correct sir!

Been a while since I've tuned an Adaptronic!

And I hope it's not bits of motor that smashed into your turbo, we know how that ended for me....

Spark plugs removed and inspected, all tips present. Compression test done and still have between 150-160psi across all pots on a cold engine. Pretty happy with that.

Was panicking at one stage when testing cylinder 5 and it showed 90psi, retested and got the same. Was already calculating cost of rebuild and who to go to but after removing and refitting the gauge it read 150psi consistently. Phew, crisis avoided. Gauge tube mustn't have seated properly.

Unless hypergear finds bits of motor inside the turbo then I'm confident the engine is still healthy and will put everything back together.

Turbo is back. New turbine and fresh bearing pack. Thanks to Tao from @hypergearfor getting it done and back to me in 3 business days. Awesome service.

Overnight parts from goodstate via ebay plus. Have used them guys a few times for genuine Nissan bits and they always seem to have stock and ship fast. Anyway, had a bit of an oil leak from an aftermarket exhaust side rocker cover gasket. Changed both with genuine + fresh half moons with a dab of threebond while I was there.

Also did a bit of degreasing to clean up the leaky mess.

Will hopefully fit turbo tomorrow morning and then boost off into the sunset. Antilag switch will most likely see the inside of my garbage bin.

All back together, filled with fresh nulon coolant. Bleeding not required thanks to the ling long swirl pot/breather.

Managed to fire her up and check for leaks. Thankfully there where none. Engine sounds happy and the horrible turbo whine is gone. Success, sadly there was no time for a drive. Off to do family stuff with the wife and kids. Hopefully take it out for a thrash/test drive later tonight.

Ready for Christmas skids ho ho ho

Just came back from test drive. Can confirm does good skids, spins em off the throttle in 3rd.

Coolant temp was fluctuating a bit and running 5 degrees above normal. Probably some air still working it's way out of the system. Will check coolant level tomorrow and keep an eye on temp. Happy to have a functioning boat again.

Lol, c'mon man. It's only a fan clutch. You've got a long way to go catching up to Greg.

In other news, checked coolant level this morning. Took another litre and a bit. Went for test drive 2.0. Temp is a rock solid 88° now as indicated by the Android gauges.

Gave her a quick wash/hose down for Christmas. Scrubbed up alright for an old girl.

After driving again and checking the peak boost levels on the boost gauge, it appears to be down by a bit over 1 psi. I do remember when removing the turbo, the actuator looked a little bent and was almost touching the outlet. I had filed down one of the bolts in the past for clearance. When the turbo came back the actuator looked perfect. I think Tao must have noticed it and straightened it up and this is possibly the difference in boost. Not sure if I'll tweak the boost control myself or take it back to Trent for a proper check and tweak.

Drove through a booze bus today, Cop was all "Does that have a 25 Neo in it?" Said "Oh no, it has a LS" and opened the door and pointed to Engineering plate and told him it was all above board officer.

I got a solid thumbs up.

no RB can have that peace of mind! 😛

    • Can't be a Futjitsubo as those are made with a flex piece and Reimax is smaller in pipe diameter. If anything it is closest to a Mines pipe, but evidently it is not an actual Mines pipe.   Classic word humor
    • Alright I will try to not forget.   As GTSboy replied to you already, problem is mainly the mismatch between the actual exhaust part and the denomination in the papers. That basically just looks like tampering to a cop, if they were to check your car and notice. If it had been done right they would have clarified it to be a custom pipe and just given it a certain part number that you have to engrave or weld onto the pipe. I will definitely inquire on what to do. Changing the pipe wouldn't be my favorite solution as it costs a bunch of money and the cat was fitted with the front pipe and exhaust under the car, and if the front pipe flange does not sit in the OEM location the cat will need to be refit for any other pipe to work. It also usually doesn't need a brand name or something like that, but more something like a part number. Usually for exhaust parts, on silencers and cat units specifically, there is a badge that reads the certificate number that belongs to these exhaust parts under EU regulation. You get these numbers after you put a part or group of parts through the tedious testing according to EU vehicle legislation and they pass. You can find these "part numbers" on various parts throughout a EU vehicle. On windows, headlights, engine parts, seat belts and so on. All these parts have gone through standardized testing and acquired a so called ECE or EG Certificate that makes them legal to use by themselves in all countries that adhere to these standards. You can also not alter these parts in any way, if you do they become illegal. An example for stampings on an exterior lighting part, the people who need to know can find the documentation for this unit in a database. I do not know what all the standards and so on mean.
    • If that was the case I suppose you could call it "Mein's" brand....  ... I'll see myself out... 😅
    • with the car running (runs fine when temp is cold), I unplugged the MAF and the car stalled.  I have already cleaned it a week ago.  I unplugged the O2 sensor from the left side of the vehicle, and the car was still running.  I let it idle for about 5-7 minutes and shut it off, to see if it would restart, and it did not.  It cranks but doesn't start after engine temp gets up to normal range.   I still need to look at the coolant temp sensor, is this one at the top or bottom of the radiator? Or is it one of the sensor threaded into the T-stat housing?
