Hi,

I'm at a bit of a loss with my R34 GTT. Soon after I got it I'd get a very occasional miss, then the TCS, Slip and Check Engine lights would come on for the rest of the journey. A bit of reading here suggested coil packs.

After a while it got worse. The miss would persist until I restarted the car, sometimes for a minute afterwards. I also became aware then the engine note had changed slightly, somehow rougher, even when it wasn't missing.

I finally bit the bullet and bought some Yellow Jackets and fitted them this weekend. However I now get the TCS and Slip lights as soon as I turn the key, and Check Engine light once it turns over. The odd engine note has persisted too.

Car has done 150,000 Ks, major service done at 94,000 Ks (not by me). Has anyone come across this, or know of an obvious cause?

Thanks.

Thanks for your responses.

I don't think I broke any of the coil harness connectors, but a lot of the plastic in there felt really brittle.

I didn't change the plugs while I had it open. Probably should have while I had the chance.

Guess next weekend's job is opening it up again and doing plugs and harness.

Change the plugs and inspect the coilpack loom for damage, as you mentioned it felt brittle

The loom itself and it's insulation gets heat-cycled a lot and becomes brittle over time which causes wires to earth out or break

Kudos have replacement loom sections for the coilpacks, unplug and replace :)
