Evening all,

I've had a look at the pin-out diagrams but I'm struggling! Would anyone know which pin on the RS Four S is the one that transmits the Throttle Position Sensor output to the ATTESA ECU? Basically I've got a Haltech Sprint 500 in the car now but I'm getting a TPS Circuit Error, and I'm buggered if I can work out which wire should be feeding the signal to the 4wd ecu!

It's been an error code kind of week :) have a search for "secret squirrel tweak" it has the details required.

BTW its likely your Air Con relay won't work either, the Stageas appears to trigger it differently to Skylines

Yeah I had to manually wire the A/C relay straight to the controls to get that working! Works OK although you don't get the ECU compensating by raising the idle rpm, but I can live with that. I'll have a look for the Secret Squirrel info now, thanks!

I didn't install my Link but I believe it was necesary to take a signal directly from the TPS.

OK, have just had a read of that, now I have more questions lol

1) pin #37 on the original ECU send the TPS voltage to the ATTESA?

2) Does ATTESA require the correct TPS voltage/signal to operate correctly, or is it just a case of giving it the 3.7v as per Secret Squirrel trick? Or does this just fool it into thinking the throttle is part open the whole time?

3) If I just splice the signal from the TPS>ECU to the wire that was on pin #37 on the original ECU, would that then give the correct feed to the ATTESA?

Here is some info from GTRUK - it may (or may not!) help you:

Asim is correct; the Attessa control module does require the RPM signal and an Earth to function properly. However these two items are shared within the factory ECU wiring loom and are not wired exclusively for the Attessa. The RPM signal (pin 7) drives the rev counter and TPS and engine temp sensor share the same earth output (pin 30). Therefore so long as the RPM and Earth is wired correctly to relevant pin location on the ECU they will by default be giving an output to the Attessa unit. The only exception to this rule is the TPS (+ve) signal which is not shared; the ECU takes the input from pin 38 and then feeds an output to the Attessa via pin 56. I’ve attached a copy of the diagram that I found on the net. I used the diagram to create an adaptor harness so that I could keep the factory loom intact and simply Plug n Play with my new ECU.

Just a quick update to put this one to bed (and in case anyone has a similar issue!):

On the RS Four S it is indeed pin 37 that relays the TPS signal to the ATTESA ECU.

All sorted on my car now, thanks to all who replied for your help :)

Pity I didnt see this earlier. I guess its all working now? I went through a bit of a headache getting a standalone going on a s1 stagea.

ATTESA pin -> ECU pin - Description

Pin 3 -> Pin 5 - Tachometer signal

Pin 23 -> Pin 37 - TPS

Pin 34 -> Pin 43 - Sensor ground

Yes mate all working like a champ now thanks! Turns out the chap who'd installed the TPS follower circuit had gotten two of the wires the wrong way round so no signal was being received; reversed this and now everything's hunky dory :)

    • This would be a new pump with new gears. I'm just unclear on whether it's a good idea to run more oil pump flow if you don't actually need said flow. Oil level is set a minute or so after shutting off a warm engine so wouldn't the high RPM oil level in the sump end up lower all things equal? Plan is OEM clearances, main concern in my mind is whether the OEM pump can keep up with the flow requirements of any additional oil coolers.
    • Don't do what I did, use a 300000km old housing with billet gears. The old pump probably was clearanced with saw dust, Edward Lee's special engine treatment sauce and a good odo wind back. I had oil pressure issues, then replaces pump with new housing, new billet gears and 2x track day later binned a motor due to other oil related issues due to a previous engine builder. Long story short, buy a M2 or 3 or 4 N55/S55/S58 and enjoy life.
    • Yeah. "New pump" does not have to mean "massive pump".
    • Well, can you still get an OEM pump, and by the time you're buying a Nismo/N1 etc, just buy another aftermarket pump. It's better to have the pump able to flow more if its needed, than for your pressure to drop off. At any point in time, you're replacing the oil pump in a rebuild. Aftermarket pumps are likely going to be a better economical choice, and they don't have any negatives, even if they can flow more.   Also, when you're saying "replace the pump gears" are you meaning leave a 25+ year old housing in the engine with unknown wear, and just put new gears in? As that sounds silly to me, especially if you do have that minute amount of wear, that means your new pump gears now have a little bit more clearance beside them, which means, whelp, you may not get to build a lot of oil pressure or make a lot of flow.
    • Right, but if you replace the pump gears + put a spline or sine drive gear on the crank on a Nismo/OEM/N1/etc pump at that point do you really still want more flow/oil pressure? Let's say this is a the aforementioned "keep it simple" build, no more than ~400 kW at the crank.
