I have checked through the forums but cannot find the info I need.

I have a 93 r33 gts-t with a series 2 rb25det in it, I was going over fuses today and found 1 missing under the dash, it's the left column engine control fuse, I have had no issues with the car except my driver headlight not working, anyways I put a new fuse in its place and when I switched off the car and removed the keys it kept running, as far as I know it has no turbo timer, unless it's really well hidden, but I left the car running and it didn't turn off, so I stalled it and removed the fuse then tried again and it was back to normal, no idea why, might it have something to do with the engine swap or deeper issue? Btw I bought the car after the swap, it was a det to begin with

Maybe they've made little mistake in swapping the engine from a s1 to s2. The way you tell ut, it seems that the ecu is still getting 12v with ignition off and the fuse placed. Normally, if you switch off the egnistion, the ecu doesn't get 12v anymore and the engine shuts down

definitely a wiring mistake of some sort, but I wouldn't worry about it if it works correctly without the fuse in. Pretty much everything in the ECU runs through the ECCS relay which is controlled by the ECU. So if for example they have wired battery 12v through that fuse to the ECU instead of from the ignition key it would never know you turned the key off, and never stop running

Bit of a thread dig but I came across this yesterday when I was trying to find something draining the battery. Ended up with a lot of fuses out at once and figured no harm in replacing them as per the fuse diagram. Long story short, car wouldn't turn off. Messed around and found as above, if I pull 1 of the 2 engine control fuses out then the problem goes away and car goes back to normal.

However, looking at the wiring diagram, it seems like a pretty important power supply to get rid of (And I could have sworn it was in before, but could be wrong) so basically just after a definitive answer - Is it O.K to leave this fuse out? What is the point of it if so? FYI: I found the switch for the boot light was not working so disconnected it and re-wired the two grounds for my alarm (1 of them back to where it was and the other to the steering column mount) so don't believe either of these things are related.

Diagram (Have put the fuse in where it lives in the circuit, is straight feed from the battery prior to this point):

As far as I can see the relay must be getting its power From the ECU now. Perhaps the ECU is not switching the ground for the power feed through the fuse correctly and therefore it was constantly on when installed?

It is a Link G4 ECU in this car by the way.

Maybe someone else with an R33 GTS-t (Mine is a series 1) could see if this fuse is missing from their car? (6th from the bottom on the left side of the fuse panel drivers side)

Noone? Interested to see if other R33's don't have this fuse. Thinking about wiring a relay in so that it will work when ignition power is on. Seems like its pretty important. According to the diagram it looks like the main feed in

    • Hi. A little bit of an update. It maybe(hope not) looks like i would need a new tranny(it would be "maybe" a cheaper or better option anyway) So i need some info. I know i need a different propshaft(i can make custom one) LSD is not a problem cuz the engine will be still(for now) N/A RB20. So if i buy RB25DET NEO tranny...is there something else i need? I read something about push/pull type but i do not know if i need to "change" something or i can just plug n play onto my engine a go? Thanks for the advice  
    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
    • My heads are cathedral port! It's likely possible, but I don't want to add any extra moving parts (I know they don't move) between the heads, manifolds, etc. It will also affect how injectors/fuel rails etc sit and I don't really know if it would change how the FAST manifold goes/sits/fits. I have the LS6 steam pipes already as I have a very late LS1 block so it should be fine. I couldn't find anyone who had ever actually used one for this purpose, it seems 100% of people grind the water pump. The thermal spacers are 12mm and are half way to the cost of the newer water pump anyhow... so if it comes to that I suppose I'd rather buy a new pump. The bearing in the pump I do have is a little.. clunky, but it hasn't done that much time and I never noticed it when the car was together in the past few years, so..
    • The bushing has failed, not all that uncommon for a car of this age.  Any mechanic should be able to push in a new bushing for you, or you can probably buy the entire lower control arm, complete with bushes.
    • Could you not use "thermal" spacers to give the clearance, like the ones I used between the blower and head? That raised the manifold height by around 10-15mm Albeit the ones I used were for cathedral ports, but I assume they have similar for rectangular ports????
