Hi All,

My AC drain pipe was sitting against the dump pipe on my R33 after I put in a Hypergear turbo (ATR45SAT). I had it taken to JEM to get tuned but on the way home it started smoking so I bit the bullet and cut the drain pipe so I could get home without it smoking up and catching fire.

I'm not sure what to do now because if I use the aircon its going to drain onto the dump pipe and steam, rust and more than likely crack.

Has anyone come across this before? If so what did you do to fix it or get around it?

Thanks!

Thanks to the thick adapter Tao welds on it pushes the dump back too far which melts the drain. If it gets bad enough it will flood inside the car. The dump will be fine as long as it isn't wrapped.

Yep I'm not sure why it's so thick, I was worried that the dump would actually fit when I was looking at it.

So you think its OK for the drain to drip onto it? Not wrapped dump anyway :)

Fark, is that what the burning smell was when I went single. Just checked and mine is burnt down. So does it need to be rectified or is it OK to leave?

Glad to know I'm not the only one - Waiting for responses but someone on SAU FB page said just get a heat sleeve and get that onto it which I'll probably do if Scotty says that letting it drip on there isn't OK

Get a steel pipe that will fit neatly inside the hose and clamp it on. Get a p-clamp that fits around the pipe then and bolt it somewhere that will bring it out of the way

Thats a basic idea but you can bend the pipe etc to make it fit properly

Not only will you find disgusting water splashing in the passenger footwell, you'll find your car filled with mosquitoes!

It doesn't leak into the cabin, its cut on the engine side and can still drain out its just that I dont want it running onto the dump pipe

The issue is that the bend in the rubber hose actually sits on the dump if its in place :(

Yet... Let it melt back a bit more.

Poorly designed 'drop in' turbo considering most of you are running the exact same JJ dump.

Those hypergears must sit so far back....ive got like 4" clearance with my bolt on td06

Its got plenty of clearance using a OEM dump pipe. Or should JJR be making dump pipes following OEM dump pipe angle? But Having said that not all jjr dump pipes touches either.

That Xforce dump in my R33 years back was trouble free, and so is Tomei.

I will seek alternatives ways to get the IWG assembly shorter.

Hmm, it's not that the lower part of the pipe sits against it so it would be hard to tie it off to the side. It's that the bend off the pipe sits against the bend of the dump pipe. Bit of a pain in the ass but I'll work something out.

    • The MX5 has had some annoying rattles in both front doors over bumps So I installed fancy pants door bushings, which stopped all of the rattles with the windows up, but........with the windows down there was still rattles, so after some googling,  and a chat with MX5 Mania, I got some new door to glass weather seals, all the rattles, windows up, or down, are gone now Shout out to MX5 Mania, the weather seals were on sale, and when I head to Dural to pick the up they even fitted them for me for free I did see a "really" nice Blue NA sitting out front   and this Black NC PRHT that looked like it has sat in the sun for its whole life and never had a wash, the clear coat was non-existent, an it looked horrible, really horrible, but, it had a nice turbo kit with over 200kw, the thing went like a cut snake, bagging the rears through the gears and dosing like a champ 😍 But, as I've always stated, I am keeping my NC na, I'm happy with the current power the car makes In other news: MX5 Mania do a drive in drive out turbo kit, the only minor additional part recommended for boosting my car, as it sits now, is a oil cooler, and that bonnet vents are definitely required for track use Aftermarket version look a bit to "racecar" spec I wonder how Focus RS bonnet vents would look?????
