It's a whole lot less than half Dallara!

I was surprised to read how much Ferrari is in that car - it's every single fking thing except the tub, nose cone (even the wings are Ferrari clones) and engine cover. I'm a whole lot less impressed with Haas' results too.

Given the advantages they had by being outside the rules for a long time and then getting all the customer stuff you would expect them to be competitive. Will be interesting to see how sustainable it all is. They don't have sponsors and whilst HAAS has bags of money how much do you want to chuck away to finish 5th.

FORMULA 1 TEAM PAYMENTS FROM 2015

(Figures via autosport.com)

Ferrari — $192 million

Mercedes — $171 million

Red Bull — $144 million

Williams — $87 million

McLaren — $82 million

Force India — $67 million

Renault — $64 million

Toro Rosso — $57 million

Sauber — $54 million

Manor — $47 million

Note 2 of the 4 top teams get paid above their station. Ferrari didn't win any championships but got the most money. Red Bull got substantially more than Williams despite finishing behind them. System is rubbish.

I like the ability to procure components of other teams. Perhaps they lost needs to be pulled back a bit but the approach is right. Maybe its a for the first 3 three years of a new team thing....thrn revert to a shorter list.

Shame tonsee Sauber struggling at the moment with finances. I will be gutted if they go the way of Tyrrell and Lotus as they have done a solid job since moving into F1

    • I’ve been considering one of these screens too, but I've heard mixed reviews about the software responsiveness. Some say it's great, while others mention lag issues. Before pulling the trigger, I'd check out a few recent user experiences to see if the latest models have improved.
    • Kaizo Industries put a VIN plate over where the Nissan plate would go. It was part of how they broke the law and attracted feds going after them.
    • Reasonably hard, although I haven't run it with the new Endless setup yet. The old brakes were F50's on 335mm rotors and the car did a 1:40.6 at Phillip Island which is a reasonable time, I'm seeing high 600s on the temperature paint. A guy I know ran the Endless fluid at WTAC without issues and he was doing 1:33's I think (Evo) with a 355/332 setup. I don't get out to the track as much as I'd like but we put the car on the hoist and spanner check every bolt and re-paint mark everything, bleed the brakes, change the fuel, check the coolant system and re-bleed blah blah blah before every event. Motorsport is expensive, RB's are expensive so a couple of hours before an event is time well spent. It's also a net time saving because if you can keep your RB from self destructing it saves you time in the long term!
    • Welcome Alice......hope you have a bit more luck from here on! What was done in the build?
    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
