M35 Head Unit Install/removal

Trying to figure out if I need a 7 pin or 8 pin. I've googled and some 7 pins look right and some 8 pins look right, some of both look wrong

Ok so it's 8 pin but I can't find an 8 pin din female to 3.5mm adapter, can only find male. Damn

Sorry my bad. You want to go from the cable that goes into that plug to the 3.5 ? If so im sure there would be a male to female adapter for just the din plug

Yea I think I will have to try and find an adapter then buy the male to 3.5mm. Thanks for the help!

Ahh I see what your talking about. The common way to get AUX sound into the M35 stock isn't to remove that cord, but to leave it in place a run an aux cord off the TV tuner in the rear LH boot trim. It sends a signal tho the screen and the screen in turn pushes the Audio out the head unit via that wire I believe.

Doing it this way you can also display video (NTSC in potato resolutions only though).

Or just upgrade the head unit, it's usually more cost effective.

I would also run a new 12v wire to the clarion receivers in the boot roof to allow for a steady voltage feed and improved reception.

For my 1000th dumb noob question, what are the receivers you speak off? Receivers for TV or radio?

They are in the top rear passenger side of the rear roof lining. If you remove the rear roof panels you will see them (2). They amplify the signal from the glass

Well just fitted a new Sony Head unit.

Took my time , used the Iso harnesses.

All went well, tested for sound before refitting everything.

Not much room behind the head unit for cables, especially with added iso plugs and leads.

Tucked in all in gently, put it ALL back together, now one speaker doesn't work.

Great.

Could be faullty head unit, faulty nissan iso harness, faulty sony harness or a break in one wire some where.

If you tested it and everything work before you push the HU back in then maybe a wire got crunch/fell out soft of thing? Which ISO did you use?

Sorry to bother you. Can you advise me of the correct Aerpro part number for adapter cable to suit the Bose stereo model please? My plan is to simply feed an MP3 player into the system initially, then remove the CD-ROM drive and install a 'proper' car stereo. Mine is a 2001 M35 Stagea, BTW. I don't feel like spending a fortune ($500.00+?) replacing the whole centre section, just so I can fit a double DIN unit.

You after ISO harness or T-harness?

If you want something like an RCA in so you can feed your MP3 player into the Unit, first of all, your unit needs to have an AUX button, then you can start from there.

I don't have a Bose HU in my stagea so i don't really know what they look like and what the rear plug looks like either.

Since I have not pulled the stereo out yet, I don't know what I require. Sorry to be so vague. I am comfortable with electronics, so I can make pretty much anything work with anything, but I figured the Aerpro cable might make my life easier. See, I plan to do the whole job in a day (or two), so I wanted to have any adapters to hand before I start. I really don't want to strip the dash out, work out what is needed, reassemble, order the parts, then strip it all down again. Make sense? There is no AUX input on my Stagea stereo, though I was told it is a Bose system.  I have enclosed a photo of my Stagea stereo and the DVD ROM can be seen to the left of the photo. My plans are as follows (subject to change and not necessarily in this order):

* Rip out the stereo and the DVD-ROM drive. 

* Install a cheap radio/CD/MP3 player where the DVD-ROM drive is. 

* Locate the line level section of the cassette deck, break the line and terminate in a 3.5mm socket, so an i-phone/MP3 player can be plugged in.

* Integrate the radio/CD/MP3 player into the system.

* Install a new SATNAV/reversing camera somewhere.

 

BTW: I know what an ISO harness is, but not a "T-harness'.

Sounds like you just need a Nissan Bose to ISO, ISO to your HU brand, any Autobarn or SCA can help, i believe the boys here said nissan patrol iso harness will suit.

Not sure if Bose is any difference, you have built in Sub & Amp, if so then you might also need a low or high level converter.

I'm new to the Stagea myself, yet to pull the HU out to check as i'm going to set up GPS/Reverse cam but i'm lucky enough the car already comes with a Double Din Slot.
