some nice times there guys, for all the guys with the r33 gtr's how do they compare to cars such as type-r's, s2000's, sti's, and evos?

I was out at QR recently and a fully prepped Evo 7 Targa Tas car was out there, he was a little under 1 sec a lap quicker than me. There were a few modded Integra type Rs out there, they were quicker than me on the straights, but my lap time were over a second quicker. On equal modification level you should have there measure.

Oh and Roy, here is a list of the different layouts at QR to help clear up your list a little :P

Fellas,

I did Oran Park South today (never driven at Oran Park before) and I think I managed a 51.32. The results aren't on Natsoft yet but that's what the posted results outside the white building say.

I'd be really happy with that time but one of the other guys that competes in the same class in the NSW WRX Club supersprint series pulled a 50.9-something out of his ass. Try as I might there's no way I could get any closer.

Next time, next time.

Oh yeah-I met and had a bit of a chat to John Penlington (hey John!) who did a great job to log a 1:48 with a rapidly deflating rear tyre.

Other notables-2xWRX 2.5L cars lost their engines, 2xHSV/HDT Owners Club cars came together and an MR2 found the wall on the turn onto the main straight.

Great day for me. I lost it over the flip-flop a couple of times and still managed to drive it home. Cheerin! :D

...Ben

well done Ben you are hustling that shopping trolley around pretty well.....have you considered buying a sports car?

 Nice one Duncan and thanks mate. It's great for when you need bread and milk in a hurry.

Hey-did I see you & the yellow Datto (not the GTR) in Zoom recently?

I was just browsing through the times here and I think I spotted a bit of a stuff-up. V8 Supercabs do 1:10s on the full circuit! These times must belong to the Sprint or Clubman tracks.

Correct, thats why I posted the circuit layouts above. As much as I would like to claim a 1:03 for the full circuit  sadly its is only on the clubman layout. . . :)

Since I have been on a 37 degree day and with Bridgstone GIII tyres, EBC green stuff pads front and RDA sloted front discs, braided lines all around and master cilinder stopper and the best time I got in the morning was 1.29.00. In the afternoon I was doing 1.30.00.

On that day I cooked the EBC pads so next time I will use EBC yelow stuff just for the day.

Also for your info the 200sx GTP production car laps around Mallala at 1.18.00 with full adjustable suspension (height restriction only), Motec, full 3" exhaust with no cat, Intercooler, Boost, (estimated power 185kw at wheels) Full race slicks (225), race brake pads and fluid. The car is also striped. Full roll cage. The information was taken from a car magazine.

I would love to see other 200sx times from Mallala so we can see what is the best value for money mods.

gonads you stuck that turbo on yea ya cheater

get a r31

Cheater-pfffft! I guess that makes everyone with quicker times than Fatz a cheater, right?

Yeah mate, the little TD05's on there right now. It hasn't been tuned and it's running wastegate pressure (12psi) so at the moment it feels like a piece of crap. I'm doing a mad dash to Sydney tomorrow morning (4:30 start to get there on time) to have it sorted out. Apparently this little hybrid sucker should be safe at 22 psi so I can't wait to see how she goes! I'm hoping this will lead to slightly quicker times.

What surprises me is that this turbo is physically bigger than the original STi turbo and yet still spools up at the same RPM?!? Makes no sense.

Calder

Circuit Distance - 2.2kms

Circuit Name:Calder

Just got back from a track day at Calder (1st AROCA meeting for the year) with my best lap time 1:08.03sec. A long way short of Snowman (thanks again Andrew for the previous pm), but something to start with. I wasn't starting first on the grid and kept getting held up, but I don't think I would have been able to get under 1:07sec even with a clear run!

Mod's...

N1 turbo's

Full nismo exhaust

Bridgestone semi-slicks

wakefield park

106.6

semi slick michelin pilots

nissan gtr r32

11/02 electronic timing

driver mark berry (owns half the car)

i couldnt beat my 107.2  car was handling like shit! no excuses though.

cheers russ

Edited by giant

dunno if this one counts for our list troy, but spencer yesterday did a 1:57.20 at PI in the alfa. it was his first time at the island so all in all not too bad for a 2 litre, non-turbo carby fed car.

i was supposed to be there with him, but work got in the way

    • Hard to say what the extra connector is, it looks a bit like a coax type connector, so possibly a separate radio/GPS antenna, or even another camera input?  The V37 series (including the Q50), did go through a model refresh in 2020, since Australia didn't get any Q50s newer than 2019, we didn't get any of the refreshed models, so there could also be other unexpected problems to overcome to swap an older Q50 head unit into a new model V37. There probably aren't too many people around that have made these sorts of changes to a Q50/V37, so you might end up being the first if you do decide to go ahead. ACP is Apple Car Play and AA is Android Auto, they are roughly the same thing for the 2 major phone operating systems (Apple's iOS and Android), it allows you to connect your phone and access a number of your phone applications on your car system.  With Nav apps included, so you could use google maps/Waze or whatever your favourite navigation app is, instead of using the built in navi system.  I think this would be a better solution if it is only Navigation that you are looking as swapping the head unit for. GPS signals are the same around the globe as the GPS satellites continuously circle the globe, but it is the head unit that doesn't allow you to load Australian maps, or at least no-one had made an Australian map that will load up on the JDM head unit. Regarding the TV standards, I assume you are referring to the AV inputs?  I haven't ever tried to use them, Japan used a slightly modified version of the US NTSC system, and Australia uses PAL for composite video, that said, I wouldn't be surprised if a video input could work with either system.  That is mostly irrelevant here though, unless you plan to use those inputs for something?
    • If you've got bucket loads of $. Go single. If not, just upgrade the twins, Garrett -9's or whatever the current equivalent is for a healthy 350awkw and leave it at that. Will probably still cost you 10k to do in this day and age.
