Im not discrediting their work, i am letting you know from my experience (take it or leave it). Im all for supporting local business but just giving you the heads up these vq low rev engine sounds are bloody loud (especially in the cabin) where you will be on a constant dose of panadol for the headaches.

I have spoken to one of the local m35 owners here in brisbane about his experience and he mentioned he changed to a diesel muffler and had it sticking out a little more from the rear of the car so the exiting noise was past the rear of the car not under it. Happy trails with you're shop just food for thought.

You're comment sounded like me a few years ago. Now i have a exhaust that was made for the nm35s.

I always appreciate the information and opinions.

I ran an N1 exhaust first on my M35 but went fully custom due to the drone and have had custom for the last year and a half. Compared to what i have heard on youtube clips etc i would hardly call mine droney or loud in comparison but then again my experience with M35's is fairly limited to 3 owners cars.

I may regret not going for a Fujitsubo this time but i'll try and post a clip once mine is sorted for science.

Diesel mufflers are pretty much larger cylinders with a perforated hole pipe that's straight through. Some glass packed or not. Most of the mufflers off the shelf have baffles or loops inside (don't get me started on bullets and cobys). Effectively just makes it like the branded ones without the label price. Cut one open

"if made badly or ignorantly"

I am getting a new exhaust made in the next few weeks. I'll try and post up how it sounds when done. I guess i could have just gotten a new dump / flex and joined the Fujitsubo crew but i like tackling things my own way with what i have at my disposal locally. Support the locals folks :)

If the bloke i am using's other work is an indication of what i'm in store for it should be a nice bit of kit.

You'll have much less of an issue with the drone situation with the manual conversion; which is yet another good thing to add to the enormous list of good things about manual cars...

I have Bricks intake now.

Haven't fitted yet, gees imagine would probably be over 120db.

Video coming soon of my Fuji with single cell cat.

My work associate said he could hear me for a good minute before I pulled up to site.

I like the look of that silencer, looks smart.

If the new cat doesn't bring it down enough I might try one of those.

That doesn't sound like any Fujitsubo I have heard under load.

Does it look like it has been tampered with? Resonator still intact? Maybe the rear muffler has been gutted of the baffling by the previous owner?

I was going to say; mine sounds nothing like that.

That has a rasp that is completely absent from mine.

Is there a cat fitted?

With a sound meter phone app (no guarantee of accuracy) mine only registered 90dB at peak (free rev).

But even allowing for error; there's no way known that it would be 107dB, I have mates with bikes around 104dB, and they are orders of magnitude louder than my quiet ol' Fuji.

    • I don’t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS 😂, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,  got the box sorted 😌, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.
    • Wow that's a steal, you've done well there.
