Speedo Stopped (replacement)

Hey,

I have been doing some research since my speed stopped working my power steering has become heavy (I have no HICAS or light) and that is very annoying.

I had abit of speedo play for awhile so I guess this is what happens.

Any tips when replacing the speedo cable? Home job? Not really that good with mechanical stuff but am with Electronics

Think it's the cable that goes through the firewall and into your cluster. Pull the cluster out and you'll see it.

Easy job if you have a ramp/hoist etc.

Attach a pull through rope before you start removing the old cable, then use it to pull the new cable back down.

That way it will lie correctly ready for the various clamps.

Thanks team...I will get a cable ordered from Nissan so hopefully I can get rid of the speedo play as well.

When you get it going again, take note of the odometer as it changes the numbers.

I found my speedo needle dips when the odometer cranks over a big change.

Looks like the 25 year old unit needs some maintenance/lubrication.
