After 100K miles, the synchros in my V35 are not quite up to there old job and a clean change is becoming a challenge.

So my query is this: A new box (because of the Oz Peso) is nearly $4K, secondhand starts around $1700 and getting a quote on a rebuild is proving adventurous, so a straw poll to see what you guys would do here.

i am even open to names of whomever would do a good rebuild.

What do you all think??

Craig

I have a spare low K box here, but do you have any idea what fluid is in the box at the moment?

If it has a teflon infused oil such as Redline shockproof it may just need a good flush and the correct grade of gear oil. The teflon oils are well known to clog the syncro's.

I can suggest a good gearbox reconditioner, the synchro's are only $100ea, but it won't be cheap for a full rebuild. Give me a PM if you like Craig.
