Help. Gtr 32 Advice

My car sat for 20 days due to a work trip. I came back, it was dead. So I jumped it but when I turn the key to on. It flashed cat overheat light right away. I started it and ran really weird. When I pressed the gas it would sputter horribly. And when I tried to move if, black smoke came out of the exhaust. Could this all be due to a clogged catalytic converter or is this due to another issue? Thank you

Maybe. Or maybe when you jumped it you fried a coil pack or afm.

Or maybe it just needs to go for a drive.

running super rich, thus the black smoke.

does it sould like a WRX?

i would also blame an ignition issue or something electronic.

have you checked your coilpacos, afms, tps all the obvious stuff?

rich wont hurt the car quickly. see if you can clear it out,

if no isolate each cylinder by unplugging the coilpack. if one makes no difference thats your issue.

Thanks for the input, doesn't sound any different. Not like a wrx. But I'll get into those things and get back with what I find.

np, black smoke is unburnt fuel, you will probably get backfiring too depending on your exhaust.

your ignition is not burning the fuel or your timing/ ecu is causing the richness from false readings, just check all the electronics to make sure their reading correct signals and check your plugs to see which is fouling, might as well replace them anyway.

Cat overheat light on your model is also the check engine light.

Would appear to have something to do with the jump start and there's no reason for that to damage ecu or AFM unless the cables got mixed up ???

What ECU?

I had this issue when I connected the Nistune'd ECU I have. Flashing cat temp = ECU error. Would run in limp mode as well (as you described).

Stock ecu, I've been busy at work. So I haven't been able to touch it. But I went out just now to try to start it up just to see if anything changed and now it will only crank. It won't turn over at all.

a knackered battery can cause allot of issues, it may just be dead.

Run** thanks.. And I just replaced the battery. i swapped my splitfires with my stock coilpacks and no change. Swapped the mafs with a buddy of mine and no change. Also, put new spark plugs in today. No change.
