Legal boost gauge positions?

My boost gauge is sitting on my floor at the moment, as I removed it from the base of my A-pillar to clear a defect. Can any of you suggest any half decent, legal positions for it?

you'll need to put it in the dash, or in the area for the instrument cluster or steering wheel.

i put mine IN the dash to stop getting defects for it!!

I actually have an Apexi gauge in my dash, but you can't see it behind the factory steering wheel.

take out the air vent on the RHS of the steering wheel and chuck it in there...

where the hazard light switch and demister switch were i have an air/fuel ratio and water temp guage! both are the smaller autometer guages

then on the other side where the mirror switch is there is a boost guage! larger style autometer!

then all switches have been moved to the center console!

There's a law says you're not suppose to block factory gauges.

However if you placed the boost gauge in front of factory boost gauge (same function), would this be ok? anyone know?

rs73, im pretty sure your just not allowed to block the speedo, everything else is fine! mate of mine had his engineered with mosta tacho and boost guage in the guage area, speedo was clear though!

well i have a piller pod and it holds 2 gauges my boost n oil. i got dun over at the drags a while back i got a defect on my car but they didnt say any thin about my gauges. i got the defect cos my horn didnt work (blow fuse)

I might just put it back on the base of my A-pillar. It really is the best spot for it. I'll get defected for my exhaust before I get defected for my boost gauge anyway...

The gauge I have in my dash already is completely blocked by the windscreen wiper stalk. I have no idea why it was positioned where it is. :confused:

i'll get photo's of mine tomorrow, and post em up. i only use my boost guage if i suspect something might be happening with the feel of the cars acceleration.. not something that i constantly look at!!

on the pillar is just easy to spot when driving past etc!!!

Damn NSW police are tight arses. I have duel Gauges on the A-Pillar, cops dont give a damn in VIC. The only thing they really care about is the height here.

if you have them in a pod, they are less likely to pick it up unless they go over your car.. but if you have cups and open guages they see em when you drive past etc... been done twice when i had some on the pillar! (granted it was a monsta tacho and boost- but it looked good)

P1E how much did the defect set you back or was it just a matter of getting it cleared. I have a guage on my A-pillar but cops really dont seem to mind, have had a few warning tho.

I've got mine on the A-Pillar, but if a cop ever tried to defect me for it I'd get pissed off, cause the way I see it, taxis with their souvalaki ordering system thingy are just the same! But the government has different laws for different things I suppose... funny how the law works against you!

just like their plastic roll cage like things that have no padding!! b/s in my opinion but there isn't much we can do!

hey where did u buy that gauge holder from and how much...thats the best idea ive seen so far ....

it came with the car when i imported it so I have no idea unfortunately.

its a piece of carbon fibre shaped/cutout around the top of the gauge, its quite a tight fit and it holds it in there very well. the fibre is then simply screwed to the steering column with some 90 degree angled pieces of metal.

The gauge itself sits in a small cup.

its quite simple and does the job perfectly and is in perfect view without blocking any dash gauges at all.
