Jap Designed Exhausts

Have 2 questions, why do the japs make there manifolds like a 3 into 2 into 1 ( if thats the right description) with shorter runners and smaller collector and aussies like the 4 into 1 style with long runners and bigger collector?

Also, on this Jap website they are saying that the HKS Hi power exhaust with silencer is not restrictive but not specifically when it would be , ( 340kw's on dyno graph)

So if you want the best sound which these muffler types do give (my opinion) is this 340kw figure accurate or just advertising rubbish?

Doesn't matter that much as i'll likely get a 6boost type and use large mufflers but just interested to know
