Boost Guage Wont Stop Turning Off/on And Other Elec Question

So I have the obligatory boost guage installed and since yesterday Ive noticed it will turn on and off randomly and fairly frequently too. Its not even under any load/specific driving conditions either; it could be when driving or when stuck in traffic. Its the electrics that are cutting in and out (as it will go through its stupid start up dance) so Im wondering do we think the whole guage unit is stuffed, or will it likely be something to do with the wiring/install.

If so what specifically could cause this to happen?

Also, I do have a number of electronic devices hard wired in (and to turn on with the ACC switch) but it seems like 1 or 2 have failed (for a while now). Ideas? If it is fuses, what should I do to stop it shorting again?

This will be the weekends investigation I think

Sounds like loose wiring, did you install it yourself? how did you wire it in? solder? just tape? Ultimately you're just going to have to have a look

I sometimes have issues with the igniton barrel. Sometimes the car runs but the radio and air con arent working, give the key a wiggle and it comes good. Its pretty rare it happens and once i play with the key it doesn't happen again for quite a while so I've never bothered to chase it up

If you wanted to be real good, you could set all your accessories up to run off battery power through a relay that is signalled by acc or ign power so that its a bit more reliable

Cal, pretty sure the barrel has 2 Acc and 2 Ign terminals, maybe one is a bit dirty

+1, loose 12v or ground perhaps

Should get around to checking this tomorrow. Hopefully its all obvious

I ended up checking all the various connection points on the wiring, resoldering/crimping and now it works fine.
