Hi all, apologies if I put this in the wrong section, wasn't really sure where to put it.

So I'm looking to get a key made for a JDM S14 Silvia. My issue is the car is in Japan (I'm in Australia though) and somehow I managed to snap the only key I have in half, it's been welded back together but it barely works and takes a lot of patience to get it to open the car/turn it on. I had a copy made from the broken key but that one doesn't work at all.

I went in to my local Nissan dealership in the ACT and they said they couldn't make keys for imports because they can't look up the information on their system. The guy I spoke to has a R33 GTR himself so I think he knows what he's talking about.

I'm at a bit of a loss as what to do as I really want to send a key over there for the people who have to move/work on the car as I'm afraid they'll accidentally break it completely :(

If anyone has an advice that would be great!

Thanks,

Nic

If it's not a chip you need then any good locksmith will be able to look at the key and cut a new one from code very easily.

The mobile guy that did mine had a quick look at a nearly flat (worn out) key and bam! 5 minutes later I had 3 perfect keys.

I think around 95 - 96 they started using chipped keys with obd2 ecus. Not sure when Nissan started implementing them tho.

If it's not a chipped key then why the f** is this discussion happening? Take to a locksmith and they can cut you a new one.
