kresot9
Hey guys selling my vehicle, i am came to a problem with my headlights being HID Xenon and they are now a problem for me to pass roadworthy. It is a 2001 R34 25GT Sedan. How am i going to fix this issue so it can pass roadworthy? From previous posts it seems like the only way is to find standard headlights and replace the xenon with them so they can use standard bulb, but the wiring wouldn't suit it. zoomzoom
Maybe research temporarily fitting a halogen to the socket. Is it a D2S or D2R? I think people have modified a H7 to fit in. If you can find a low wattage globe, even better. Then you would just need some intermediate wiring between the H7 and your power source. The light would obviously be crap, but may be enough to get you by roadworthy. kresot9
They are D2R bulb, and i am not to savvy doing a intermediate wiring for my self. Best case possibly just find standard headlight and replace them entirely Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/463365-r34-roadworthy-xenon-headlight-issue/#findComment-7691942 Share on other sites
Kinks
Yes if you can find standard headlight housing then replace the whole enclosure. Retrofitting halogen lights to a Xenon HID housing produces a pattern that is awful, and in my opinion is even more unsafe than having the factory HID lights because the lights are too dim and poorly focused to be effective. Halogens and HID lights emit light in different ways and the housing must be designed to focus that light onto the road. Changing bulb type never works well. zoomzoom
My suggestion was attempting to find a completely reversible and non-destructive temporary measure. Buying a second set of headlights seems like a pricey solution. kresot9
even if i got another set of headlights that are not xenon, i would need to do some wiring anyway due to the wires are currently for the xenon headlights Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/463365-r34-roadworthy-xenon-headlight-issue/#findComment-7692078 Share on other sites
V28VX37
Take it to a different workshop, too much hassle swapping around headlights etc. I had no issues getting a roady on my 34 GTT back five years ago. niZmO_Man
Are your bulbs blue? If so, get some 4300K bulbs and replace them, then take to another shop. Then those those blue bulbs in the bin. kresot9
@nizmo_man, nah they are not, they are nice clear white, not too bright as well. What i may be able to do and will need to know what halogen bulb fits in to the complied standard headlight. As there is wiring for the standard halogen and will just from there connect the halogen bulb in to the wiring of the low beam with a connector in to xenon headlight. So what halogen bulb goes in to the low beam complied headlights that are not xenon? Is it H4, or H1 Edited March 4, 2016 by kresot9 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/463365-r34-roadworthy-xenon-headlight-issue/#findComment-7692690 Share on other sites
