Am I missing something ?

Pulled the whole car apart to replace all bushings and put everything back together, the only thing I'm stuck at is putting the rear rotors back on!

I put everything back together according to the manual (and reference photos I took before pulling apart the shoes/springs etc because I knew I'd have a hard time remembering where everything goes).

The toothed adjuster is also adjusted all the way IN to pull the shoes in closer.

The rotors/shoes are not new which makes me scratch my head even more :/

^^^what he said. You may find there is a slight lip - sand it down with emery paper to get rid of it. The other problem can be getting the shoes within the circumference of the drum - tap them left and right to make sure they are centralised in the drum.

What Kiwi said, most likely the lip inside the drum.

Bush mechanic way to fix it- disc on the hub back to front so the inside is facing out, both wheels off the ground, idling in first gear, angle grinder on the lip and a few seconds later perfect. It's like a poor mans lathe!
