Hey guy's,

Quick post just to gather some feedback. Will be having a turbo upgrade soon for my Skyline - R33 (RB25DET).

I am supplying all parts needed & just need the shop to install + tune, what I'm supplying is:

- Z32 AFM

- 6Boost Low-Mount Manifold

- GTX3076R w .82 Rear Housing (VBand)

- Braided Line Kit For Turbo

- 950cc Deatschwerks Injectors

- Turbosmart 45mm External Waste-Gate

- GReddy Profec OLED

All that's needed for the shop to do if I'm correct is:

- Installation

- Make Custom Dump

- Weld Elbow Onto Turbo

- Possible Custom Cooler Piping?

This is my usual shop and I always take my car there, however not sure if am imagining things or if the price is too high.

I spoke to one of the mechanics (who did mention I'd need to double-check with the owner) who advised installation + above + tune could be $2k-$3k. I'm not dissing them or their work, just want to know if that's a legit price or if it is too high?

Appreciate any feedback, as it is likely possible I am over-looking just how much work needs to be done etc.

Thanks!

A decent shop could knock that over in little more than a day.....so $3k is probably a fair bit too much and $2k is not far wrong if you look at a full day of a mechanic + some help + some consumables and pipe and so on. A sensible estimate is always on the high side to;

* filter out the dreamers,

* allow for contingency and surprises (such as broken manifold/head studs),

* avoid the inevitable argument when the bill comes out higher than originally quoted.

So...this isnt an exhaustive list, but more the stuff ppl never consider that having done it enough myself may give you more to consider

- remove std manifold that often means snapped studs....equals time to remove and replace,

- new exhaust manifold gaskets and turbo dump gaskets

- aftermarket low mount manifold/turbo means new coolant and oil lines (plus move std wiring etc that is too close to the manifold/dump)

- removing turbo means dumping coolant so may as well do oil and filter all at the same time.

- changing injectors so may as well slip a new fuel filter in there. How old is the current one?

- custom dump easily 250-350 including flanges, gaskets, welding & material

I would say the price is very reasonable.

Thanks for that detailed breakdown Roy! Forgot to add I've got a recon'd head. Isn't even 50ks old yet haha. So brand new Studs and gaskets :)
