Dose Pipe Sutututu
^depends if the car is mainly street/track etc. I personally (if I had a GT-R) get a 1-way or helical front and a 1.5way rear 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/464074-rb28-build/page/4/#findComment-7708711 Share on other sites
sneakey pete
Most people here would recommend the Quaife front diff over the nismo, as its a helical type diff instead of mechanical plates, helps with understeer under load. Also my diff guy doesn't like to install mechanical fronts as too much of the diff housing needs to be ground down to make them fit apparentlyAdditionally, note that for the gtx turbos, they aren't a bolt in affair, to get mine i needed to find a rear housing to suit and then get a front housing machined. As was mentioned in the first page, you should probably be able to get a turbo shop to do that using tx 2863's into your existing turbo housings. why not 2860's? because you cant machine something to be smaller than it already is. levinboy
You mean you'll get more lag and shift the mid range higher up the RPM.. Longer duration cams are not the answer to getting better response or making better mid range.. Yes you will make more torque yes you'll make more power but not where you want it.. and that's nice and early. I have 272 by 10.8 cams on a 2.6 with -9 turbos and have full boost 21psi by 3800rpm on 98 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/464074-rb28-build/page/4/#findComment-7708753 Share on other sites

Check my build thread for very detailed Nismo install instructions including highlighted areas where to grind. It was not significant by any means. Regarding the clutch diff vs helical...I think the nismo 1.5 instructions references that it is a lightly set clutch style...not crazy deceleration lockup (but I haven't driven mine yet). I'll let you know when I drive it. I would also have chosen quaife but I would have had to become a dealer in the USA and buy 10 of them to get one! Also nismo came with the bearings and seals. I don't think other ones do. (Tomei, quaife, etc). Also don't forget you will be buying / ordering shims. The setup took a bit of time for me. I had to make 2 shims. khezz
So there seems to be a general agreement on diffs. thats was easy. still seems to be no agreement on turbos. what about the hks gtss or the gtrs? Piggaz
They're polar opposites You do not want RS's/2871's/-10's. The graph that I posted earlier shows why. GT SS's are a -9. A little small for a 2.8. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/464074-rb28-build/page/4/#findComment-7709074 Share on other sites

khezz
Ok new plan. If it does turn out that a high mount single can be made legal, what will support 600AWHP without lag that can be marked on a calendar? khezz
[emoji57] I understand there will be lag, but there is acceptable lag and a dyno graph that looks like a cliff face. Nothing and everything for a split second. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/464074-rb28-build/page/4/#findComment-7709605 Share on other sites

HarrisRacing
Also the EFR are literally the fastest responding turbos on the market right now. Geoff at full race made 704whp through the 8374 EFR on a stock bottom 2.6 with lots of headwork on E85 through a cat.
