Anyone put a neo engine or top end in an R33?

I have 3025neo going in R33 and with a R33 power fc, i come accross some differences in the two manifolds,

The R33 has an air reg under the runners with an electrical plug, it has a few hoses, 1 hose goes into the IAA at the back of the manifold and the other into the manifold underneath..

The R34 doesnt have the air reg under the runners and the IAA doesnt have the pipe to accept that hose either, so a different system used..

Next, the R33 IAA has two plugs purple and grey i think, but on the neo there is one grey and thats it, but a separate green connector nearby.

So will this still work on the car or does it need the R33 intake manifold bolted onto the neo head for everything to just plug up and work...

The Neo combines the thermostatic air valve and the ECU controlled idle speed control valve into one unit on the back of the plenum. Same location as the R33 idle control valve, but as you can see, all the plugs and hoses and stuff are different.

I don't know whether you can easily drive the Neo idle control valve with an R33 ECU. Probably can - I think they're similar enough in nature that it could just be a case of making the wiring connect. But I can't promise you.

But then you have the CAS wiring and the knock sensors and a number of other things that could be different enough to make things not work as expected. You might be well advised to buy a 2nd hand Neo PFC and sell your R33 one.

To answer your question more directly....you can put the R33 manifold on the Neo head. It is a small backward step (the Neo manifold/plenum is nicer), but it will go on.

Thanks for the replies, my old man just suggested making up a plate so i can bolt the R33 top half plenum onto the neo bottom runners.. hmm, if my tuner were closer i could take it there.. i can either take action here or wait til it goes to him on a trailer for his thoughts/ attempts to make it run..

Is it straight forward or reasonable cost wise to have someone make an adaptor plate? I really wanna use the Neo runners , i think the R33 runners are bigger so it will have some shitty step bolting on to neo head???

Just use the whole neo intake, the 33 iac only needs one plug unless you're running a/c? I just plugged it straight onto the neo & all ran fine, otherwise it's easy enough to make an adapter plate for the iac, I wouldn't bother trying to mate the manifolds together

Thats a better idea, thanks, ill see how it goes and last resort have an adaptor plate for made for R33 iac
